Have you ever noticed how so often after you have felt especially inspired by something God is showing you through reading the Bible, or listening to a sermon, that something will often happen that allows you to use this newfound inspiration?
It's often not very fun.
For example, I was listening to a message by Otto Koning regarding a spiritual weapon we possess, and how to use it. It's called simply, the weapon of rejoicing.
Rejoicing when things are going according to plan, rejoicing when good things happen. That's all pretty easy.
Rejoicing when things go wrong, when unexpected things keep piling up. Your vehicle breaks down, your major appliances decide to die, health problems arise, betrayal happens, and more. Well that's a lot harder to keep rejoicing and praising God for everything. But so effective.
I'm wielding that weapon right now. It's a little heavier than I imagined when I was feeling so inspired, but I know with every fiber of my being that God is good.

Kind of like I've learned not to pray for patience. :)
ReplyDeletePraying you'll be able to wield that weapon like the true warrior you are. (((Hugs)))
Thanks for your prayers.
DeleteThank you for sharing your spiritual focus. It is taking a lifetime for me to "Let go, let God." My focus of late has been from Hebrews: "If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts." Only an open heart can rejoice like He desires. Working on it daily!
ReplyDeleteYou are a blessing.
I like that ... "only an open can rejoice like He desires."
DeleteThis is a timely post. It is hard to remember to rejoice when things go wrong or times get hard. Today is a day that I need to extend extra grace and I am finding it a bit hard to rejoice. Thanks for the reminder! I am going to put a smile on my face and think more positively. This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.
ReplyDeleteI love that verse! I'm reminded of it every morning when I make eggs for breakfast. The carton have that verse printed inside the lid. Makes me smile every time I see it.
DeleteAh, Otto Koning has GOOD stuff! And yes, I agree that God "gives me an opportunity" to try new lessons out as I learn them. It's tough!
ReplyDeleteOtto Koning has really good stuff! We've learned so much from his Pineapple series.
Delete*hug* I understand
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteIt is so hard to rejoice when things aren't going to our plan--when health issues arise and we have no control over them. My oldest daughter might be (and I say Might be) facing a third open heart surgery. We go back to her cardiologist in March (2017). This just gives us all more time to cover her with prayer. Here lately, I have been yelling at the Devil to Stay out of my Life-more like screaming at him.
ReplyDeletePrayers for your daughter.
