A Question to Ponder

Sunbeam, while holding lil' Buddy: Mom, how can someone so boring be so interesting?

I had never stopped to think of a baby that way before and couldn't help but smile. I wasn't sure how to answer her though since she was right, a newborn is boring in the sense that they don't talk, they don't play, or do anything that makes most children or people fun to be around.

But it's really hard to find something more captivating than a little baby and their sweet, helpless, innocence.

  2. WOW such an interesting thought to ponder...How can some one be so boring but so interesting? I think it is within the eyes that behold the boring with a desire to see the interesting....

  4. I think I ask that same question about my husband. HA HA Just joking. That's funny that she said that - when I had my first, my friend had her first a couple weeks later and one day we were talking and I asked how everything was going and she said, "Well, he's perfect...but kind of boring." That just cracked me up - and I think I really like Ben's comment (above). I remember I could just stare at my babies for the longest time. Love that pic, by the way!

  6. That's a great observation by your little girl. It reminds me of my now 20-year old daughter (daughter #2). She was 5 when I was expecting daughter #3. She used to ask, "Is the baby boring yet?" Of course, she met "born," but I couldn't help but think that she might find the baby boring because they really don't do much at first. Of course, she was totally fascinated by her baby sister. It's hard to believe how long ago that was. Daughter #3 will be 15 on January 30.

  8. A miracle indeed! And they do bring sooo much joy. I don't know what we did without my nephews - 20 months and 3 months. Absolutely adorable, just like your picture.

  10. This reminds me of the family story of when my aunt was born. Her older sisters, 11 and 12 years old, thought they were being presented with a new puppy and were very disappointed when it was a baby. And these were farm kids!

I was never fascinated by babies until I had my own. What a difference that makes.

  12. What a brilliant question from your daughter. Do your older children now look like GIANTS to you compared to your newest baby? :) Congrats again, and that is another sweet photo! ♥

  13. I love hearing the questions and thoughts of children. They come up with some really creative and interesting things sometimes. :) Her question made me smile too. I haven't thought of it that way either. You're both right. :)
