The Process of Recovery

I have been in a blogging rut ever since Sunbeam's accident. I'm sure I'll get out of it eventually. But right now my days are filled with taking care of her needs, between all the other things that a family of five needs to have done, and the many people that drop by to see her.

And I have discovered much to my dismay that not only does a house not clean itself, neither does it stay clean once I have it spotless, I think it is safe to say my last shreds of pride and dignity have been removed since we have people dropping by at all hours without notice.

Sunbeam is recovering, and yesterday got to enjoy a makeshift playhouse her siblings built for her on the recliner.

One of my husband's brother's and his family are coming to spend the day here today and my kitchen is still a mess.........

  1. well it's a good thing people aren't coming to visit your house they are coming to visit the people that live there! gotta love that play house!

  2. Kitchen's are meant to be messy! Enjoy your visitors, your daughter and family are top of your priority list. Hugs for Sunbeam x

  3. Please don't worry about household details.

If anyone is coming to see your little Sweetie, they must be friends/family. And if friends/family are going to pay attention to any household lacks, at a time like this, then they should be ashamed of themselves. So there!

    Aunt Amelia sezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :-)

    Gentle hugs,
    Aunt Amelia

  4. I'm sure everyone who comes by the house understands the difficulties of taking care of a recovering child and nobody's expecting household perfection.
The playhouse the siblings built for Sunbeam is so cute. She looks happy playing in it.

  5. She is just so precious! Glad to hear she is on the mend. And I agree with the others-they are coming to see Sunbeam and the family! Don't give your home a second thought! :)

    Blessings, Misha

  6. Your daughter is so cute! Love the makeshift playhouse:D

I have found we are the only ones who really care if our houses are spotless - enjoy your company. If they know you at all they know you are normally neat and clean.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. I really think you should stay up all night long cleaning and straightening up. Then when it's clean, make it dirty and clean it again. I just had to say that since everyone else said the opposite!! HA HA Totally joking! If I walked into a super-clean house while there were kids there and one was recovering, I'd wonder why so much time was being spent on the house. You're doing what's right. Remember that. If it bothers anyone, I guarantee they'll get over it. You're awesome ~

  8. P.S. - I've only seen that one picture of you that you posted one day, but I think your little Sunbeam looks like you, especially in the eyes. Do people think that??

  9. I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's accident! I was on vacation when it happened. I'm so glad to see that she is doing good!

You take care of her and the house can wait! My house looks like a tornado has went through it right now but I just can't keep up with it with the kids and all of the things that need to be done. lol I told my husband that we had a clean house before the kids and that it will be clean again once they are all in school. At least that is what I am hoping for! hehehe

You should visit my blog when you have time to see our vacation pictures that I have been posting. We went to Canaan Valley and to Maryland just a short drive from there are some Amish. We always go to a bakery there that my husband just loves their homemade apple pie. I have pictures and all!

Hope you and your family has a wonderful 4th of July!!!

  10. I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet daughter! I can't imagine the trauma you've all been through! She sure looks like a good patient. :)
I hope she has a full and speedy recovery!

  11. I've taken a little blogging break for the summer, so I haven't been checking in on my favorites as regularly. But I'm glad I got a chance to stop by and see that your daughter is doing well. I pray for a speedy recovery for her. And don't worry about cleaning the house ... time with family and friends is much more precious. I try to remind myself of this often.

  12. I can only praise the Lord for your little one's recovery!

  13. i have ocd and come from a long line of it. for years i struggled with this, i would think everytime someone stopped over that they were judging me for my messy house, when one pillow would be askew, and a few dust bunnies would be lolling around. lol one day someone told me, " they are not coming to see how clean your house is, but to come and fellowship with you!" thought maybe it will help you too. though it did take me sometime before i was able to realy let the issue go lol

Thank you so much for taking time to comment. I love hearing your thoughts.
