Celebration Giveaway

While doing the A-Z challenge this year, my 7th blogging anniversary came and went quietly.

It doesn't seem that long ago when I sat down one afternoon and started writing some of my childhood memories in hopes that our children will somehow be able to keep a slice of our heritage, and have a better understanding of where we came from. Even though our life was different now because we had chosen to leave the Amish, it wasn't something I wanted to lose entirely.

Today I'm celebrating the anniversary, and the fact that I successfully completed another A-Z challenge by having a giveaway.

I'll be giving a copy of the first cookbook I ever used, and a doll dressed in authentic Somerset County Amish clothes to one lucky winner

If you would like a chance to win this, leave a comment telling me about something that happened in your month of April.

For an additional entry, post a link to this giveaway on your blog or Facebook, come back and leave another comment telling me you did.

On Monday, May 9th, I will be choosing a winner using the random generator.

Giveaway is now closed and a winner has been chosen.

  1. My month of April revealed some flowers I didn't know we had. The former owners hadn't told us they had planted a spring flowerbed.

  10. Attended a bridal shower, a baby shower, worked hard at a yard sale with my church and got up very early to spend that day heading up the bake sale/hot dog dinner tables. A lot of work but SO much fun. The BEST thing that happened in April, besides a good friend coming for a visit, was my two granddaughters making the decision to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour of their lives....and being there when they were baptised. Happy day, happy month.

  40. April was a roller coaster for us, I'm glad May is here. We were pretty sick for the most if it and my 5-year-old came down with pneumonia. I thank God that she's 100% feeling better now! We bought our first minivan because baby #3 is due in October and we could only fit 2 kids in our old faithful Subaru. We finally heard back from an endocrinologist that my husband will need a biopsy on his thyroid so that was big news but I'm so glad we're taking care of it now and not letting it slide! I have to say reading your A-Z posts every day was one of the things I really enjoyed throughout April :)

We also planted more vegetables in our garden in April to. The rain we had has sprouts poking up everywhere :) Blessings to you and yours

  55. Well, Looking back April was full on! I was busy being a Student Midwife, trying to find a church in my area, and sewing lots of new clothes for winter (I live in the Southern Hemisphere) I just moved so life is always unexpected, but April was the month that allowed me to finally settle into a routine and feel confident in my new life/ home.

  56. Wow, so many comments, but I will leave one here, hoping to be the winner of the cookbook. I love your blog but only have time to read from it about once a week. Thanks so much for your many "homey" posts. I was never Amish, but I grew up in a different day with a very simple homemade kind of life, and much of what you write is very familiar to me. Thanks again!

  57. In April I supported my husband through the last weeks of his 8-week radiotherapy treatment. I grew closer to God, saw the kindness and helpfulness of others much more clearly, and I was ever-grateful for the love we share.
Through a tough time, God's love surrounded and filled us. Romans 8:28 became a practical lesson for us.
