Celebration Giveaway

While doing the A-Z challenge this year, my 7th blogging anniversary came and went quietly.

It doesn't seem that long ago when I sat down one afternoon and started writing some of my childhood memories in hopes that our children will somehow be able to keep a slice of our heritage, and have a better understanding of where we came from. Even though our life was different now because we had chosen to leave the Amish, it wasn't something I wanted to lose entirely.

Today I'm celebrating the anniversary, and the fact that I successfully completed another A-Z challenge by having a giveaway.

I'll be giving a copy of the first cookbook I ever used, and a doll dressed in authentic Somerset County Amish clothes to one lucky winner

If you would like a chance to win this, leave a comment telling me about something that happened in your month of April.

For an additional entry, post a link to this giveaway on your blog or Facebook, come back and leave another comment telling me you did.

On Monday, May 9th, I will be choosing a winner using the random generator.

Giveaway is now closed and a winner has been chosen.

My month of April revealed some flowers I didn't know we had. The former owners hadn't told us they had planted a spring flowerbed.

In April I took a road trip across New York State to the area I used to live in, and was able to see three friends while there. It was great to touch bases with them and it was fun to drive past my old house and other places that I used to spend time at. Memories, memories.............

April brought kidding season to the homestead. Its always a happy time but this April also brought sadness as we lost Buttons. She was our head goat and such a loving gentle soul.

What a great giveaway! My Grandparents were also Somerset Co Amish (later Mennonite) and our heritage is something I want my kids to know about, too! In April I turned 31, which was a pretty big deal to me, lol.

On April 14th, I celebrated my sister's birthday by going to a tulip festival with her. What a beautiful sight it was to see acre after acre of tulips of all colors in full bloom. Happy 7th anniversary of blogging and providing so much joy to your readers.

Attended a bridal shower, a baby shower, worked hard at a yard sale with my church and got up very early to spend that day heading up the bake sale/hot dog dinner tables. A lot of work but SO much fun. The BEST thing that happened in April, besides a good friend coming for a visit, was my two granddaughters making the decision to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour of their lives....and being there when they were baptised. Happy day, happy month.

April found me working at the Blacksmith Association of Missouri conference. Would you believe we have over 600 members.

In May we are attending the Tennessee blacksmith conference where a Mennonite blacksmith will demonstrate using horse powdered equipment.

I have spent April adjusting to life without my sweet Mom. She passed to her eternal home on March 11th. I am happy for her. And learning to not pick up the phone "just to tell Mom about...."

April was an amazing month for my son and I. We raised his first chickens, and he was able to help me pick dandelions and wood violet for jelly this year. Big steps for my lil man. :-)

April brought rebirth to our area. I loved the trees getting leaves and flowering, I love seeing the tulips showing their beautiful colors and the bushes in an array beauty.

April brought two of our three children home for a visit, one of which we hadn't seen in over 2 /2 years because he lives in Japan. How happy the house was with grandchildren's laughter.
Blessings,
Betsy

At the school I teach at, various middle school children shaved their head to raise money for cancer research. Many did it in loving memory of a loved one who died of cancer. I was so proud of their courage!

April was a dreary month this year, with 12 days of gloom and rain, plus two funerals. The sun will shine again and we always need rain but 12 days in a row was too much

I had two surgeries this winter, one with complications. In April, I had a medical procedure that will now ensure I am on the road to a complete recovery! I give all the glory to God!

April was a roller coaster for us, I'm glad May is here. We were pretty sick for the most if it and my 5-year-old came down with pneumonia. I thank God that she's 100% feeling better now! We bought our first minivan because baby #3 is due in October and we could only fit 2 kids in our old faithful Subaru. We finally heard back from an endocrinologist that my husband will need a biopsy on his thyroid so that was big news but I'm so glad we're taking care of it now and not letting it slide! I have to say reading your A-Z posts every day was one of the things I really enjoyed throughout April :)

April brought another year to celebrate my moms birthday, she has later stage Alzheimer's. She may not know any of us anymore or why we are around all the time but to see her smile and know she is still with us is the greatest gift to us.

April came with a blessing of my eldest daughter's birthday, and also a time of sorrow as we lost my daddy last November. His birthday was on the 7th, the day before my daughter's on the 8th. Daddy would have been 86. My daughter turned 41. We are thankful the Lord gave him a long life, but we miss him so very much, until we see him again in glory. We also planted more vegetables in our garden in April to. The rain we had has sprouts poking up everywhere :) Blessings to you and yours

I also wanted to say how sweet the doll is. I would love to have her for many reasons. Mostly because she came for you :) I have always been a doll fan, and anything Amish would be delightful to have. I love simplicity, which is why I am fond of the "Amish Way" ♡♡♡

In April I was sick for a week, and (for entertainment?) as I lounged in my recliner I pondered solutions to a situation I had just noticed going on over my girl's bunk bed, and searched "footprints on the ceiling". This blog came up, and I was hooked. What joy your chaos has given me this last month! Your salvation testimony is amazing and wonderful, thank you for sharing!

This is such a sweet giveaway. In April, our 7th grandchild was born the day after I walked and walked with our daughter who was 8 days overdue to deliver. She went into labor that night and Ruby Leigh was born the next day. The Lord has blessed us with 7 children and 7 grandchildren

Well, Looking back April was full on! I was busy being a Student Midwife, trying to find a church in my area, and sewing lots of new clothes for winter (I live in the Southern Hemisphere) I just moved so life is always unexpected, but April was the month that allowed me to finally settle into a routine and feel confident in my new life/ home.

Wow, so many comments, but I will leave one here, hoping to be the winner of the cookbook. I love your blog but only have time to read from it about once a week. Thanks so much for your many "homey" posts. I was never Amish, but I grew up in a different day with a very simple homemade kind of life, and much of what you write is very familiar to me. Thanks again!

In April I supported my husband through the last weeks of his 8-week radiotherapy treatment. I grew closer to God, saw the kindness and helpfulness of others much more clearly, and I was ever-grateful for the love we share.
Through a tough time, God's love surrounded and filled us. Romans 8:28 became a practical lesson for us.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry but I forgot to give my name in
the comment I made about supporting my husband through radiotherapy. I'm Kay and I live in the UK.
I particularly like the Amish doll because we don't have anything like the Amish people over here.
