F ~ Family at Four Corners

A few weeks before we left the Amish some friends of ours took us to New Mexico where we had fun exploring the state for over a week.

One stop we made was at Four Corners, named thus because it was supposed to be where the corners of four states met. Several years ago we found out that the spot where they meet isn't where they had thought they do, so I guess that has now kind of defeated the purpose of making a stop there.

I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with me for sharing this picture with you today. It's quite cringe worthy. But here we are at Four Corners.

  1. The photo is precious. I wonder why they didn't know the spot was exactly right when they made the big tourist attraction there. Makes ya go, "Hmmm" doesn't it?

  2. That's an interesting tidbit about Four Corners. I've heard of the place, but never knew it was in the WRONG place. Your picture is beautiful! Such a lovely family you have :)

  6. It is not a cringe worthy photo, it is very sweet! :-) I never knew that was the wrong place. You would think the states would have put the tourist attraction in the correct place. Go figure! lol.

    1. You would think that they would try to get the spot right. Driving for miles out into the middle of a desert is kind of senseless if it's not even in the right spot.

How crazy that they got the wrong place, I wonder if they have something to mark the correct place now.

    1. I don't know if they have a marker at the correct spot now, or not.

  8. I also thinks it's a very nice photo, but I don't think many of us like pictures of ourselves. "I'm squinting. My hair is a mess. Look at those bags under my eyes!" And if we've been brought up not to be vain, even *thinking* it's a good likeness can make us uncomfortable. But, it IS a very nice photo of a lovely young family!

    1. Thanks.

I think you're right, I know I don't enjoy being in front of a camera.

  11. That's funny. We have been there, too. I guess I never knew it really wasn't. I like the picture. Have you blogged in the past about how you came to leave the Amish? I'm always fascinated by all he Christian fiction I see about the Amish.

  12. I've also been in that exact spot but hadn't heard that it wasn't really the four corners. Oh well. Love the family picture. I always cringe at old photos of me but they are what they are. :-). Your photo is precious.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. That was a really cute picture! Not bad at all. I'm just sorry you had to endure black stockings in the hottest area of the country. Yikes.
