FYI

Just because there is no vehicle in the driveway it does not mean there is no one at home.  And if you stop by and walk around our yard taking pictures of our house, our trees, and our flowerbeds I will be inside the house walking from window to window taking pictures of you to post on my blog.

I have twenty more that I could share but this one will do for now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got a little creeped out yesterday when a stranger was walking around taking a lot of pictures, and since I have a weird sense of I don't know what I gleefully took pictures of her snooping around taking pictures.
  1. I have to admit it's a bit creepy, but on the other hand, you must have one gorgeous house and flower bed to attract strangers that way!!!
    Take it as a complement
  2. Ps you should charge them a fee for taking picture lol, you could make a few $$$
  3. How strange...maybe she was just getting ideas to show her architect!
  4. That is funny.
    We once knocked on the door of a house to ask if we could take pictures (it had once belonged to my great grandfather), but no one answered. We took pictures anyway because it wasn't a place we would be near any time again soon.
  7. I can't imagine someone would actually walk around your yard taking pictures. My question is, Is your house a house that someone would want to try to duplicate the architectural design of it? Years ago when my husband and I were planning on building our house we would drive around the older neighborhoods with Colonial style homes to get ideas for our future house. I did take a picture of one homes porch columns so we could try to make ours like it. We also had one house in particular that we absolutely loved and would drive by it every time we were in that area just to look and awe over that house but we NEVER got out and walked around the house taking pictures of it. I would never do that.
    I sure hope that is what she was doing. If not I would call the police if you see her again.
    Have a Wonderful Weekend!
  8. That is strange! I would have gone outside and made sure she saw me taking photos of her in return.
  9. Hmmm... Since it was a woman, I think I might have poked my head out and asked, "May I help you?" If it was a man, I would not have done that,though. Perhaps she was a realtor who might have been at the wrong house?
    I wonder what she was up to..and my curiousity would have driven me to ask politely.
    It does seem a little creepy...or at the very least, a bit intrusive.
  10. I would ask before I did anything of the sort! Manners, Manners!
  11. I have a neighbor who did that to us off and on last summer. I was told that we can't do anything about it as long as he stays out of our yard. I got really irate, because I am a private person and he snapped a picture of me when I answered the door in my robe (I knew it was my son and dil) and this want to be paparazzi took my picture. I later went to ask him what his problem was and he said he was tired of being treated with disdain. I'm not sure where he got that because dh and I always wave to all our neighbors if we see them drive by or say hello if we see them in person. I think he might be jealous because in warm weather, dh has the big garage door open and quite a few of the neighborhood men congregate there and it's basically a "man cave." He was welcome though so I'm not sure why he didn't come over. It is a creepy thing to have someone do this when you don't know how powerful their lenses are and maybe they're scoping out your place to steal something or maybe they're just strange. I'd report it (I did) just to have it on record in case something else happens. I'm sorry you are going through this.
  12. Ditto to Kathleen. Don't you hate when creepy stuff happens like that and your husband's not around? Maybe next time, walk on the porch with Sailor's BB gun! LOL!!
  13. People just honestly do not have any couth. I mean, that is just plain RUDE! WOW! However, like the other reader said, you must have a beautiful home! :)--S
  14. How bizarre! I wonder what she would have done if you had opened the front door and took a picture of her? Hopefully it was completely benign in nature. :)
    You have won my postcard giveaway! I'll send you an email, too, and send your email info to UPrinting so they can contact you. Congratulations!
  15. Wow, I think I would have asked her what she was doing. We like our privacy, too. And while I'm not the confrontational type sometimes it's called for. Have a great weekend!
  16. I've snapped a pic of yards I really like or plants from the curb but like 25 pics? That's a lot! I probably would have went out and asked what they were up to.
  17. Was she just walking along, looking for houses to shoot, or was her car parked somewhere? Rude, at best. Creepy, at the worst. At least she wasn't taking pictures of your kids unawares.
    Is there a small possibility that she was taking pictures for some sort of on-line mapping service, like Google Maps? You can actually go on there, typ[e in an address and often see a picture of the house.
  19. I once answered the door with a shotgun in my hand... The people (who were at the wrong house!) left rather quickly! :) I was home alone with my young daughter and it was after nine pm!
  20. If the weather was nice and your yard looked inviting and she suspected no one was about, I'm thinking she was just another amateur photographer looking to take some interesting shots. I'd likely have asked "May I help you?" to see what she said. My children are budding photographers and are always on the lookout for good places to do photoshoots.
  21. I think it is very rude to take pics of someone else's home without permission! I think I would have gone out to confront them, LOL!
  22. We have people stop and make pictures occasionally. They will even go onto the pier of our pond to get a photo of the water fountain in the background. Most of the time it will turn out to be someone we know but then there have been a few we didn't. You must have a beautiful place but I can understand you being uncomfortable with it as well. I like it that you made pictures of her taking pictures. How funny... Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
    Blessings,
    Elizabeth
  25. This happened to me on Monday! A lady came around the house taking pictures. Monday night, a friend called to say that pictures of my barn were on Facebook! It was a disquieting feeling.
  27. Happened to me before- I went out to find Out what the deal was. Once it was a rep from a real estate company doing comparative studies of houses recently purchased in area and another time it was for our insurance company.
    But I am not a famous blogger... Certainly creepy!
    Thanks so much for all the stories you share with us! I LOVE your blog!
    This reminds me of the story you shared of your mother-in law snooping with her friends and you having to hide in the bedroom closet. Both incidences have me ticked. Rude!
  29. I just bet it was a follower~so I am sure she is seeing her picture on your blog. You have been famous~dear Friend.
    Let's pray so anyway~because that is a bit creepy if not!
  32. I am a very private person. This would have disturbed me.
    I am sorry that you had to go through that. I think it is great that you took her picture!
    Blessings to you.
  33. Hahaha! You are so funny MA! That really cracked me up.
  34. I think taking pictures back was very smart. I also feel that this person was being rude not asking permission. I would call my husband if I had this person wandering around unwelcome.
  35. People can be very thoughtless and rude and I agree with other comments that I would be more concerned if it was a man snooping around. Good for you to show her on your blog and if she is a follower and sees it, I hope she sends you an apology!
  36. Kinda strange... But at least it was only picture taking.
    LOL @ walking about taking pictures of the person taking pictures.
  37. Good for you! People can be so rude. She could have at least knocked on the door even if there was no car in the driveway.
  38. I don't know Jan - I think it would be even more creepy for her to turn out to be a blog follower. I'd rather think she was just some stranger who thought the house and yard were photogenic.
  39. You must have such a beautiful home-but I would be the same-totally creeped out. You should have hollered out the door at her...
    SO weird..
  41. This reminds me of stories I've heard from my husband's childhood.
    They lived on a tiny island that doubled as a State Park. Many tourists would come every summer to "soak in the beauty". The private homes on the island (for park rangers and their families) would have signs stating it was private property and theirs even had a low chain fence in the hopes of keeping people off their property.
    But it wouldn't stop everyone. There were times that my husband would look up from playing and see a person peeking through the window...and one time a person just walked right into their house!
