I'm happy to report that we accomplished the goals we had set for January.
It was our first time trying to make eclairs, and while they were a bit time consuming we were pleased with the end results.
We used this recipe.
Our craft goal for the month was making potholders.
After seventeen years of use, the ones I had made before we got married were simply worn out and in desperate need of being replaced. The girls had fun sewing them together while Buddy watched closely.
I sewed the binding on them while the girls created some pillows and scent sachets for their room.

Very productive time I'd say. And, it sounds like it was fun as well. Maybe I need to look at my potholders!!!
ReplyDeleteThe eclairs look absolutely delicious. My potholders are ones I crocheted double with cotton yarn. They're looking pretty bad too. You've inspired me to get on the ball and get some new ones made before long.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Such pretty potholders.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Buddy is following each & every stitch! It's wonderful to see the girls at their sewing machines.
ReplyDeleteThe e lairs look yummy.
What lovely potholders! Such GREAT skills for the girls to have! I've always wanted to learn to use a sewing machine and make some things, but teaching myself proved unsuccessful. I gave my old sewing machine, barely used, to a church member who wanted to sew while healing from an extended illness, but couldn't afford a machine. I'll stick with my crochet! LOL

ReplyDeleteGood Morning MaryAnn,
ReplyDeleteThose eclairs look delish! Your girls did a terrific job on your new potholders. My songbird hasn't shown any interest in sewing until this year. She decided to take a quilting project in 4-H. I am excited to teach her.
Blessings,
Mrs.B
My grandmother used to crochet her potholders and dishcloths from the cotton string from feed sacks and dog food bags. I can't even crochet, and I still obediently roll the string into little balls when I open a fresh bag of bird seed. Old habits die hard.
