Checking In

Taking a few minutes to check in and let you know I realize I still have a blog, even though I was neglecting it shamefully this month. That is about to change though since Christmas is over, and the children seem to all be over what ever flu like sickness they had been plagued with.

Christmas wasn't the happy celebration for my extended family, this year. My uncle had a heart attack and passed away, his funeral is today.

I haven't mentioned this uncle very often, here, though I knew him better than any of my Dad's other brothers. He had a very interesting story he used to share with anyone who would listen. A few years ago he wrote about his experience and I happened to be lucky enough to get a copy. I'll be sharing it with all of you soon. I think he would have liked that, and it just seems fitting somehow.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your uncle , especially during such a joyous occasion such as Christmas. We too lost a family member last Christmas, which was a shock to all of us. My sister in law fell dead from a brain anuresm. Sickness was going around here at home as well, but everyone is feeling better now. I am interested in reading your uncles story. God bless you all

  3. Sorry for your loss. I will pray for you and your extended family. Glad to hear everyone is feeling better at your house. My grandson (age 4) turned up with a fever on Christmas day and is unable to celebrate today with his Great Gram Pat, my mother. We will postpone our little gathering until Monday evening. Looking forward to reading of your uncle's story. Merry Christmas to you and your family. HUGS... and stitches

  5. Again, we will also remember your family in our prayers. Maybe because it comes "in the bleak mid-winter", but Christmas always seems deadly. My grandmother died Christmas night,'76, my cousin's father died Christmas morning '82, my eldest son-in-law's former boss died this year on Christmas eve, and a couple at our church lost their only son at Lockerbie. And a funeral the day after Christmas seems so *wrong*, somehow.

At the moment, both The Squire and I have bronchitis, and only wish we were dead. Gah! This stuff is awful!
