Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. July is National Anti-Boredom Month. When was the last time you were bored? What's your go-to cure for boredom?

I can't remember the last time I was bored. There are so very many things I enjoy doing, and not nearly enough time to get everything done, that I really have no time to get bored.

2. What's the last thing you made a reservation for?

A Valentine's Day dinner several years ago.

3. What's one thing on your summer 'bucket list'? Any plans to make it happen?

Going to the beach. Not sure that will be happening this year since we are suddenly back to being a one vehicle family.

4. What's your favorite summertime sip?

Pink lemonade is my favorite drink other than water.

5. What do you find is the best way to handle another person's hostility and hopefully ease the tension?

This can be hard, but I have found that simply not responding, or somehow tactfully changing the subject especially if it is something the person has an interest in or enjoys can help ease the tension.

Proverbs was right........ A slow answer turneth away wrath .........

6. Your favorite film set in summer?

We hardly watch any movies,  and I really can't think of one that is set in summer.

7. What word are you using too much lately?

Hmmm........ trying to think. Nothing comes to mind, but then I suppose with not being allowed to talk above a whisper greatly reduces the amount of words used unnecessarily.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Yesterday was a day I don't want to repeat. Crazy storms, and crazy deer. Trees are down, roads are blocked, and a less than intelligent deer committed suicide by jumping in front of our mini van rendering  both itself and the van dead.

  1. About your van: Oh, no! Thank goodness no one was hurt. Looks like there are none (or very few!) of us who know what it is to be bored!

  2. Bored? I am not sure the word existed when I was young! Stand around with nothing to do in our yard and a hoe or pitchfork would be thrust towards you. Sit with nothing in your hands whilst listening to the radio or talking to a visitor and mending appeared on your lap - horse leather or implements for boys to fix and sewing for the girls. Oddly, the more 'stuff' people have, the more easily they seem to feel bored.
    Didn't boredom arrive with television?

Hope nobody was hurt in the van incident? Poor old deer, but they can be dumb, can't they? Did you have venison for supper?

  3. I have learned the hard way to just keep quiet and turn away when dealing with a hostile person. One does much better following the advice in Proverbs.

  4. Oh no! I'm so sorry about the van and I hope no one was hurt. Sorry about the deer too. We've been down to one vehicle this summer and I"m not handling that too well. I feel stranded.

I also hope your throat problem is improving.

  6. Sorry to hear about your van. We were very alarmed by the number of dead deer on the road this year.

  7. We lost two HUGE branches last night, and the top out of a tree at church. That was *some* storm.

The school I attended was rough on sloppy word habits; using "you know" or "anyway" too often would get you called down in class, and even back in the dark ages we had to chisel "like means to be fond of" 100 times on our stone tablets, if we said "it looks like rain" instead of "it looks as if it might rain". I'm still after my grandkids over that one.

    Probably a lost cause.

  8. Oh no! I'm so sorry about your van, (and the deer), but praising God that you didn't mention any injuries. My life doesn't leave much room for boredom either.
I hope today is a much better day for you and I'll continue to pray for your throat issues.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
