A Surprise for Lily

A little less than a year ago I was celebrating the release of my first book. This morning I'm pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming that it's already time to celebrate the release of A Surprise for Lily, book four in the Adventures of Lily Lapp series.

I'm inviting you to join the celebrating. I will be giving away a signed copy of A Surprise for Lily, a cute Lily coloring book, and a few other surprises will be included in the giveaway package.

For your chance to win all you have to do is leave a comment telling me about something that surprised you.

For a second entry post a link to this giveaway on your blog or Facebook and then come back and leave another comment telling me you did.

Giveaway ends on  Saturday September 7th at which time I will be consulting Random Generator to choose the winner.

Giveaway is now closed and a winner has been chosen.

  1. How wonderful to have your new book coming out, congratulations!

Surprised by the sudden appearance of my daughter from Canada, who arrived without warning on my birthday last year!

  2. Congratulations! What a fun day to celebrate.

My biggest surprise was when my boys created a scavenger hunt for me for my bd. This is something we have done often for them and it was so precious when they did this all by themselves.

  3. My hubby surprised us with a day at the Family Fun Day this weekend. Not something he usually does! The kids loved it.
And we are reading book four of your series. My children ages 6-daughter and 8-son are really enjoying it. Would love to win the coloring! :-) We have not yet had a chance to read book 1 or 2, so guess we will back track! Thanks for sharing your stories!

  5. kneeling in the grass while weeding my hens and chicks, I was surprised(and frightened) to feel a snake slither across my bare ankle. I do not like snakes-so much for anymore gardening that day!
I know a darling little Amish girl named Amy who would love to read book four in your series. She and her other siblings loved the first three.

  9. This week, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of your first two 'Lily books' from Amazon.com! Looking forward to reading them and sharing with my granddaughter.

As for my best surprise, it was when my daughter-in-law was able to become pregnant, after surviving cancer by having her cervix removed! 10 more weeks until the baby is due :)

  10. I was surprised to look down two days ago and notice that my husband had filled up the gas tank in my car- he sneaked it away while I was at work, took it to the pump, and filled it up without my knowledge. He's such a sweet guy! :)

  12. My biggest surprise in life was , when during one of my pregnancies , my doc could not find the heartbeat of our baby , sent me off for an ultrasound only to discover that I was pregnant with twins!!!! Talk about being in the valley , mourning the loss of your baby to being on a mountaintop with rejoicing that I was carrying not one but two healthy babies.Shock of my life.

  13. Earlier this year my husband and I were surprised, excited to find out that my youngerst daughter and her husband were expecting identical twin boys. It was a shock to all of us, needless to say. The twins are three weeks old and are precious.

  15. I was surprised to find out my dogs have a taste for spicy hot sauce. Tried using it as a deterrent on the deck (at the advice of our vet) only to find out they absolutely love it. (And out deck rails are now chewed even more!)

  17. Congratulations!
My best surprise was when I started reading your blog and realized that you are from the area not far from where my husband and I have our summer campsite. We love that area and have taken many drives to the Amish community in that area. Reading your blog has such a great connection to me since I'm so familiar with that area. Thank you.

  24. Please don't include me in your drawing as I have already received some very special things from you (the books went to my 13 year old granddaughter who devoured them and Family Life to whomever had the desire to read them) but I would love to tell you my absolutely favorite surprise :-)

My single days were fun, but at 20, I was seriously contemplating singlehood as there were no young Christian men around that I cared to date. We lived in the country and meeting "new" men was difficult.

An old friend from "across the river" who went to the community college with me a few years earlier and with whom I kept in touch with on an irregular basis showed up on my doorstep one afternoon riding a motorcycle! He was out riding around, wanting to show off his new bike and couldn't find any of his friends at home so he just kept riding til he found himself on my side of the river and decided to look me up! Oh, he was a Christian and no longer dating anyone!

The knock at the door came JUST as I finished putting the stinky stuff on my hair and cute little pink, blue and white curlers for a permanent... I didn't recognize him when I peeked out the window so I went to the door...in my pink, blue and white curlers... HAHAHAHA!!!!

    The rest is history! :-)
