Time for a Giveaway!

Our family loves reading and we have accumulated a large assortment of books for our home library that keeps continuing to grow.

Yesterday Rosy boxed up several hundred books that we had in our living room to exchange with others that were waiting patiently in our storage room for a time like this. Among the ones that were being packed away I noticed this book.

The Prairie Girl's Guide to Life

It's filled with a host of instructions, written in a very pleasant engaging way on how to do anything from, making candles and perfume, growing a garden and preserving food, baking pie and bread, to almost anything you could think of to live a more simple life.

I found it interesting and thought you might too. If you would like to have a chance to own this book leave a comment telling me something that you would like to learn how to do. It can be anything at all from boiling water to sky diving.

I personally would love to learn how to crochet. So far I have been terrible at any attempts I have made at it.

As always if you want a second entry place a link to this giveaway on your blog and come back and leave another comment telling me you did.

I will be choosing a winner using random generator on Monday October 10th.
Disclaimer: The only compensation I receive from doing this giveaway is the warm fuzzy feeling I get to be able to give someone this book.

I have also tried several times to learn to crochet. Love the lacy looks you can get...other people can get. But the thing I am going to try to figure out how to do this winter is to sew my own book/journal covers. :) This looks like a great book!

What an interesting book.
I think I would like to learn another language.

As a child I watched my mother hook rugs. Beautiful scenes done in wool. Sadly she never gave me one so I would like to learn how to do it myself !
Random Generators don't like me much however. :( does sound like a very interesting book.

I've never tried to crochet, but I have knitted... and determined that I'm not very good at that either.

Personally, I'd love to learn how to sew. My mother is fantastic at it, but never really had the time to teach me.

Hope I win!

I would love to add that book to sit beside my "Housekeeping In Old Virginia" from the 1880's. As for what I would like to do -- I've been blessed in learning to sew, crochet, knit, super-user in various softwares, travel, take flying lessons ... what I really need to do is trust my Lord to provide all (and I do mean ALL) of my needs, to be as Paul wrote: Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (Philippians 4:11 KJV)

That book looks right up my alley! I want to learn how to tool leather and make braided rugs. If you want to learn to crochet, my friend Dana has just begun a free online class on her blog called "Crochet School" at www.craftyminx.com. It's very clear and detailed! Thanks so much for sharing your book!

I would like to learn how to make bread with yeast. I'm great at baking quick breads in a loaf pan (banana, zucchini, carrot, lemon cake etc), now to learn the REAL THING with kneading, rising etc!

Wildflower, check out Rhonda Jean's Down to Earth blog at: www.down---to---earth.blogspot.com for everything you need to know about making soap. Her tutorials are great as are her homemade cleaning products.

Cheers from Cape Town, South Africa (from a sad Springbok rugby supporter as we lost to the Aussies today in the quarter finals of the Rugby World Cup)

I, too, would like to have this book. One of the skills that I would LOVE to have is the skill to make bread without a recipe. My grandmother always made homemade bread and could do it just by "feel". I am not that accomplished, but try all the time. Hope you have a great day

I am determined that this is the winter I learn to knit. I've had a tradition of starting to crochet when the weather turns cold, but I don't need anymore afghans currently, so hopefully that will give me time to practice knitting.

This book sounds great!
