Monday's Random Bits

Today I'm pondering why Monday's seem to be the day when things pop up and don't necessarily go the direction I want them to.

I had a simple schedule in mind when I got up this morning, do the laundry, finish up some paper work, and make a phone call.

With the first load of laundry in the machine I went to make that phone call, they put me on hold for almost two hours before I finally got to speak to someone, I was beginning to think they do it on purpose in hopes their customers get discouraged and hang up and don't confront them about their bogus collection scheme. I think everything is cleared up now, but it certainly wasn't the most fun way to start my week.

I signed into my blog and was surprised at the amount of traffic I got last night, and almost all of them came looking for Amish canned meat.

I'm guessing I know why since I was among the number of people who tuned in to watch the new series Return to Amish. I don't know why I even bother watching it, it's such a convoluted mess of acting, and just why they think they have to keep carrying their jars of canned meat with them to snack on is beyond me, and utterly ridiculous!

I can almost guarantee that off camera they never do that!

I'm hoping today's rain won't put a damper on tomorrow's planned picnic. The menu has been planned and the item the children are most excited about is the batch of donuts we'll be making in the morning.

Donuts sound much more appealing than canned meat :)

I hope your picnic is as wonderful as homemade donuts sound!
I didn't see the show but it sounds ridiculous from your description.

Canned meat GAROSS ........ okay, about the show, is that all just really acting ..... and, I LOVE watching it of course !! Are they really AMISH kids even !?! Seems so strange to me that they really would do all this, and, film it !!! BUT, guess who watches it ?!?! Oh well, I admit it :O:O
Love and wishes for a wonderful tomorrow my friend xo

Canned meat is actually quite good, but used at meals, not carried around and snacked on!

It has been years since the cast was Amish, they had left long before the first season had been filmed. A lot of it is acting, or at least being told what to do. So awkward and uncomfortable. They don't necessarily have lines they have to say, but it's still not real.
Like the sing-in they showed was so incredibly fake I almost found it funny and somewhat offensive. Singings are held Sunday evenings and begin around seven o'clock. This occurring in broad daylight shows it was staged, and they had only a handful of people there, and they stood to sing instead of sitting on benches at the church bench tables, and the sang only the first line of a song six or seven times. Ridiculous....... calling it singing is too kind, really... I never heard such dreadful noise before in my life!

I can understand what they say when they speak Pennsylvania Dutch, so that's kind of fun, but other than that it's a big mess and very unfair to the Amish, especially if people think they are seeing an actual depiction of how an Amish life is lived.

Looks like we'll have a cloudy day for our picnic, still plan to enjoy it though!

It's been a while since we had homemade donuts, I'm looking forward enjoying them once again.

You're right, the show is ridiculous!

I used to like canned meat a lot more than fresh, but simply putting it in the freezer is much less work!

Thanks. Me too!
