Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What can the average citizen do to honor a military veteran and/or those currently serving?

Something we all can do is keep them in our prayers.

2. Besides a flag what is something you own that is red, white and blue?

A tray that Sailor gave to me for my birthday when he was eight years old.

3. Does love really conquer all?

God's love conquers all.

4. Strawberry shortcake or blueberry pie?

I really like strawberries and if I want shortcake I like my Mom's recipe the best by far. I can't even make myself eat the bland store bought stuff.

5. Do you share personal stuff with your hairdresser?

The only person that ever does my hair is myself so I guess you could say my hairdresser knows all my personal stuff.
6. Does money lead to selfishness?

No.  It's not money that causes selfishness. It is a heart matter not a money matter.

7. What piece of furniture in your home most needs replacing or refinishing?

The bunkbeds in our girls' room. Daddy made this set when we moved into a tiny house when I was a little girl and built them to fit the room so they are shorter than average.

They are still in great condition after all these years so I'm thinking they will find a new home with one of my brothers and keep on being passed down to which ever family member needs them.

8. Insert your own random here.

Some of you may remember LV's attempt at home dentistry that I had blogged about here.  Almost exactly three years later he finally went to a dentist last week and got that tooth removed.

  1. I love the idea of those beds being passed down thru your family!

Homemade shortcake is the only way to go : )

  2. Cute bunk beds! I do remember the LV tooth story and it still gives me butterflies in my stomach when I read about it. EEEK. So glad it got fixed - my stomach says thank you. :)

  3. Those are gorgeous bunk beds. What a nice family heirloom!

I will take both strawberry shortcake and blueberry pie, please. Then I'll have something red, white and blue, the whipped cream being the white. ;)

My hairdresser knows most of my personal stuff because she's my daughter. In the fall, she'll take her last semester in cosmetology school, but her skills are already at professional level.

  4. All of the grandsons have a captain's bed that my dad made them. Those beds will definitely be passed down their own children!

  5. I love the Hodge Podge thoughts you share.
We joined in last weekend and put up a couple of US related items to honour my own special vetran and his vetran friends. I willing joined in the 'hug a vet' day started by my sister-in-law too!
Red ,white and blue takes on a different meaning next week as we have extra holidays here for the Queen's 60th year on the throne.
Love the bunk beds. Such skillful work should definitely become an heirloom!

  6. Hi again,
Would love to be let in on the secret of US strawberry shortcake if you, or anybody else would share a recipe.
I make Scots shortbread, but that is always plain. Strawberry shortcake is something we've all heard of in the UK, but I never saw a recipe for it.

  7. Love your fun Wednesday Hodge Podge Posts....those are great bunk beds and I love the cute patchwork quilt coverings.

  8. Please tell "jenann" that Joyce from the first entry here has a good recipe for shortcake. Everyone needs to know the best way to enjoy strawberry shortcake!

  9. Such a fun and interesting post. Precious, precious bunk beds. So true about money. I love blueberry pie. But strawberry shortcake comes in for a close second. If it's on biscuits!

  10. Hi there! Just popping in to say I don't aleays have time to leave a comment but still enjoy your posts. :)

  11. To honor a soldier, you could call and check on their family or send them a card when they are gone. I think it's easier for the soldier to be away from home if they know their families are cared for and have someone they can call in an emergency. This is just my perspective as a military wife of eight years.

Thank you so much for taking time to comment. I love hearing your thoughts.
