One of my first sewing projects when I was six years old was making nine patch quilt squares.
I really enjoyed digging through Mom's boxes filled with fabric scraps and make fun color combinations for each one.
The completed squares were tucked away until the winter before we got married and I finally turned them into a quilt top. Mom and I spent many hours that winter quilting my first quilt. It's nothing fancy, but with all the memories that got sewn into this quilt it is one of my favorites.
Beautiful! My father has beginning stages of Alzheimer's and this winter to give him something to do he cut a lot of squares that we'd marked. Love this idea how to sew them together! What design did you quilt into the white squares?

ReplyDeleteThat is lovely. I have a quilt make from scraps and it was fun when my girls were little to point out the various dresses I'd worn. Lots of memories. (And I old you about the quilt my grandmother "stole" and gave to my sister as a wedding gift. Talk about the urge to kill!)
