Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something you miss about the 1980's? If you're too young to miss the 80's how about the 90's?
Life was interesting for me back in the 80's. I was at the age when every day was an adventure. For me it isn't fashion, music, or anything along that line that I miss.

One thing I would love to be able to do again is stand in the front of the buggy with the storm front open while Daddy is driving the horse. I'll never be a little girl again so sadly that isn't possible.

2. Do you have a library card? If so, how often do you visit?

Yes, I do and our children do as well. We love books so we really enjoy the library.

3. What's the secret to success?

I had to think of Psalm 1  as soon as I read this question.  I find those first three verses very thought provoking.

4. This is National Backyard Games week...what's your favorite backyard game?

The games played in our yard are very simple children's games. Pitch and catch being Sailors favorite right now.

5. If I dropped by today what would I find on your coffee table?

I don't have a coffee table but if you were to look at the end table beside my rocking chair you would find a lamp, a book or two, as well as a little basket of diapers for Buddy.

6. Do you own a bicycle? When was the last time you rode a bicycle? Is that something you enjoy?

I have never attempted to ride a bicycle. LV and the children do and with a lovely biking trail near by it would be almost tempting to learn to ride so I can join them on Sunday afternoon bike rides.  Maybe someday.
7. What's your favorite cheese?

I really, really like cheese and any given day you will find at least four different kinds in our refrigerator.  It's hard to pick a favorite but I never turn down fresh mozzarella.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm counting down the days until Life with Lily releases on October 1st.  Right now it is available for pre-order on Amazon.

  1. I'm with you on cheese...mmmmmm. Horseradish cheese is hard to beat. Unless it's by Port Wine Cheese ---a good brand...not just different colors.

  2. I miss the positive energy (and physical energy) I had in the 80s. Nothing slowed me down and I was always up for an adventure.
I use my library card at least once a week. It is the best way to check out new music and explore books before spending money on a personal copy.
The library also hosts some amazing special programs.
    Secret to success? Never quite!
Learn from mistakes and setbacks and try something different.
I grew up with JARTS and croquet. Would love to get a group of people over to play either.
On any flat surface in my house you would find books and crafting materials.
I own several bicycles in various forms. Those with tires have flat tires. I'd ride more if the seat was more comfortable.
Cheese! It is in my blood.
My favorites are the soft white cheeses, and marble jack.
I enjoy most others, but some in smaller doses, and not seasoned too hot.

It is a beautiful sunny day and now I am off to enjoy the day outside.

  3. I love cheese. My favorite is Havarti; my second favorite is sharp cheddar.

I was a young woman in the 1980s and I got saved in 1984, six months after my oldest child was born. The only thing I really miss about the 80s is being a young mom for the first time.

I agree with your secret to success!

Every member of my family has a library card, and we visit frequently. In fact, we just got back from there; it was our second trip this week!

I'm looking forward to your new book coming out! October seems like a long time to wait, but it'll be here before you know it. I'm very excited about this opportunity the Lord has given you to share your writing gift with others.

Today was a nice, mild, sunny day before our heatwave (temps in the 90s) hits starting tomorrow or Friday. My husband and I took a drive through some beautiful countryside today.

  5. During the 1980's I lived in Aylmer Ontario, about 8 miles north of Lake Erie. I miss the open buggy rides down to the lake on a summer afternoon, usually on a Saturday. We would have a picnic, walk the beach, wade in the water and drive home after dark on a full moon.

  6. My favorite cheese is mozzarella! Yummmm! We live in a place where you can't get it though, so I haven't had it in over two years. Maybe when we go back for a visit...

  7. My favorite part of the 1980s was the date of Dec 31 1989, why because it was the end of the big hair 80s. But then again some of those that were close to me were still with us, so i do miss those days because of that. Have yourself a very nice memorial weekend folks. Richard

  8. Libraries are fantastic. I need to find where the nearest one around here is now that we're all settled in after our move, and get a library card.

Mmmm... Cheese! My favourite is Wensleydale!

So excited for you about your book. I've just had my first book published in ebook format, and am in the process of preparing a second. The first is a collection of poetry called "Mr. Pumpkin-Head And Other Poems" (which are mostly children's poems) and the second is a child's novel called "Witchlet" about a little girl who just happens to be a witch searching for acceptance. I also have a giveaway on my blog where I'm giving away an Amazon gift voucher to one lucky reader (giveaway ends on May 31st). If you're interested, come on over to my blog where you can find links.

  9. Is Life with Lily your book? Congratulations! I'll look for it over.

It seems very few people in the Hodgepodge this week have coffee tables : )

  10. I hope your book will be so succesful that it'll be translated to Flemish/Dutch, so I can read it to my children. Or they can read it themselves!
