Kicking Off 52 Weeks of Pie

On Saturday afternoon I pulled out my old faithful cookbook and opened it to the pie section. Instead of going to our favorites I decided I would finally try my hand at baking a Bob Andy pie.
It used to be my Aunt Sadie's favorite pie. Every family get together she would show up with one of those pie, and every family get together I would eat a slice of my favorite pie instead.
For some reason we never made the pie while I was growing up, and until Saturday, I had never made it since we got married. That was all about to change. It was time to try Aunt Sadie's pie.
I followed the recipe and it came out of the oven looking just like Sadie's used to.
After it had cooled it was time to taste it. It was good, but I don't see it becoming a favorite.
If we're ever invited to a family get together I may bake one and take it along in memory of Aunt Sadie.

  1. I'm curious. What is a Bob Andy pie? It's not in any of my cookbooks. I think 52 weeks of pies will be a fun experiment. I know my family would have loved it. :-)

    1. I'll share the recipe later this month. I'm getting a lot of requests for it.

      It's a type of custard-y pie.

My family is loving this goal!

  3. I had an Amish cookbook, and I remember seeing the pie recipe, but didn't make it.

  7. "If we're ever invited to a family get together I may bake one and take it along in memory of Aunt Sadie."

I think she would like that. 😊

  8. Your "52 weeks of pie" challenge has intrigued me, because my own goal has been to make only one pie per month, and I've flopped miserably at that! However, if you can make one per week, perhaps I can kick it up a notch and make a monthly pie work. You piqued my interest on this pie, too - I've never heard of it! I looked it up and am going to try this one:
