Giveaway!

Giveaway is now closed and a winner has been chosen.
Today, simply because I feel like it I am giving away this delightful Amish Country perpetual calendar. Filled with gorgeous photography of the Amish and an Amish Proverb on each page. It's almost too pretty to give away! But I would love to give you the chance to own this little gem.

To enter the giveaway all you have to do is leave a comment telling one of your favorite childhood toys or games.

To increase your chance of winning leave a link to this giveaway on your blog and then come back and leave another comment telling me that you did.

I will be using Random Generator on Monday June 13th to choose a winner.
Disclaimer: The only compensation I receive from doing this giveaway is the warm fuzzy feeling it gives me to be able to make that someone else gets to enjoy this calendar!

  7. My favorite childhood game was catching lizards. We loved nothing more than to coax my neighbor friends' father to get one to bight him on each earlobe, as they would hang on and not let go. He would walk around as if they were earrings. It was so comical for us children to watch!

We played Parcheesi and Monopoly a lot. The biggest thrill was to get to play this Royal Rummy card game with the grown ups--had a big plastic table mat and poker chips. But most of the time us kids played Rummy 500.

  51. I grew up in the country with not many toys. My favorite "toy" would have to be the trapeze bar my Dad hung in a tree in the front yard. I played on that every chance I got and dreamed of being in the circus.

  54. My favorite toy I would have to say was my Toni Doll. Oh how I loved giving her a permanent and styling her hair. I kept her and my oldest daughter played with her until the bands broke on her. I did not know that you could have them restrung so threw her away. About 6-7 years ago I found one just like her on E-Bay and she now stands proudly along with a couple more I bought for old times sake on my dreser in my guest room.

    Love the calendar. Wonderful giveaway.

  58. My favourite thing to play with was a board game of the World Wildlife Fund (just new in the seventies) called 'Wildlife'. When there were no other players I would invent all kind of alternative 'games' with it myself ... hours and hours were spent like that. My children still love this game too.
I hardly dare to ask, but can I be included too into the calendar list? I love it! If not, I fully understand!!!

Have a nice Pentecost Day & Dutch greetings,
    Carolien

  60. For my 11th Christmas Daddy got me a Roy Rogers Double R Bar ranch set. Oh, I had so much fun playing with all the plastic characters and animals. But my favorites weren't "toys" -- I loved the Golden Books. Reading has always been my favorite pass time.

  61. My favourite toy was my Panda. He was about 15 inches tall & stuffed with horsehair & straw, which made him smell a bit if he got wet, but I loved him, he had lovely amber coloured eyes & every couple of years mum would have to sew him a new nose because I would love it away. I had him until I was in my 30's when my German Shepherd puppy ate him one day.

  64. My favorite game wasn't a formal game with rules; it was a game my sister, brother, and I used to play at night when we were supposed to be sleeping. We all slept in the same room, and after my parents had sent us to bed and all sounds of interfering parents had subsided, the game started. For some reason, it was called Fancypants. Fancypants was the hero of the game, and the villain was the school principal. (At this point in our young lives, I was the only one with any experience of a school principal, so I guess this was my contribution.) The game took many forms, but basically it was an adventure that involved crawling under and over our beds, pursuing each other, and eventually defeating whoever had the night's job of being the school principal. In the dark.

My second favorite was Kick the Can, back in the days when hordes of children on summer vacation were allowed to play outside, pretty much unsupervised, until 9 or 10 p.m.

  67. I loved roller skating, on the sidewalk in front of our house and the neighbors. I wore out a pair of the metal clip on skates, totally wearing the metal off the wheels. I kept the skate key on a shoe string around my neck. Thanks for shaking that memory loose!

  70. My favorite game when I was a child was cops and robbers, or Indians and white men ! If I would be a little more limber I would still go out and play that with my children, but instead I stand to the side coaching them as they play! Love the calendar! Kristena

  71. I loved to play house as a young child. My dad, a hobby carpenter, had built my siblings and I a playhouse perched atop a low tree stump. It was quite large, as playhouses go, and had a kitchen, living area and bedroom. I loved to whip up crude culinary delights in that wooden kitchen. My fine mud pie was coaxed into my younger sister Tricia once, much to her chagrin, but the incident did make a great memory for us both, and a story to tell our nieces of their daring and rascally aunts! :-)
