Giveaway

Ah, The Pineapple Quilt.  The one book that I used to read several times a year. I still enjoy sitting down and spending time with Nancy Martin as she spends a year working for a family in a neighboring church district. The lady she works for doesn't make things very easy at times but at the other end of the house lives Mommy (Grandma) and her Pineapple Quilt. Join Nancy as she grows in her faith and learns some very valuable life lessons.

Reading this book also introduced me to the yummy Montgomery Pie that I had to try after reading about Nancy's efforts in baking them. They are good and I will share that recipe in a future post.

This is a true to life story in an Old Order Mennonite setting. Or what we used to call the horse and buggy Mennonites. Very similar to the Amish.

If you would like to have a copy of this book leave a comment telling me your favorite kind of pie.

If you would like a second entry blog about this giveaway then come back and leave another comment telling me you did.

I will choose a winner on Monday February 7 using Random generator.

Giveaway is now closed and the winner announced.  Thanks to everyone who entered!

Disclaimer:  The only compensation I receive from doing this giveaway is the warm happy feeling I get from knowing someone else will get to read one of my all time favorite books.

My favorite pie is one that I have found not too many people have tasted before, but let me assure you...it is so yummy....Muscadine Pie.

For a savory pir, I would have to go with a homemade chicken pot pie....yum yum!!

I have never heard of this book, but it sounds like something I would enjoy.
The pie that I currently like the best is blueberry pie. Because that is what I have been baking with all the blueberries in our freezer that we picked this summer. If you ask me in a few months, it will probably change :)

My favorite kind of pie is apple crumb.

My favorite pie is peach pie! Or key lime pie. :-)

nfaband said...

My favorite pie is Peach Pie, made from fresh peaches, with a sugared top crust. It's the best when it's still just a tad bit warm, so when you place whipped cream or vanilla ice cream over the top it begins to melt. Yum, my mouth waters just thinking about it.

Thanks for the chance to win this book, I'm fresh out of new reads.

I bought this book back in December while visiting Lancaster Co because you described it in an early post last fall. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it as I knew it was written from experience and a working understanding of the Plain life.

Since I already have the book, please don't enter me in the giveaway, but I do want to tell you my favorite pies are: two crust apple pie made with Macintosh apples and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. I just can't choose between the two!

What a wonderful giveaway! I love quilting books. My favorite pie is a chocolate cream pie. My grandmother taught me to make pie crust from scratch and we always filled it with pudding made from Royal Dark N Sweet pudding mix. It's hard to find now but I snap it up when I can.

Chocolate or PB pie is my favorite (actually those are the only 2 kinds I like! haha). I loved reading this when I borrowed the series from an Amish friend and would love to own a copy to re-read!

Your book looks lovely. Where I live in England we are big on savoury pies - our family favourite is a steak pie. The filling is braised all day with vegetables. I use some of the filling to make a beef stock and a beef and vegetable soup so it is very economical. But the main steak, veg and stock are thickened up with a delicious gravy and then enveloped in a buttery pastry. The house smells really homey!

Lisa in Texas = ) said...

I would have to say that Pecan pie is my favorite- Pineapple Icebox pie is right up there at the top though too!
The book looks really neat. I got into quilting about 5 years ago and really enjoy it.

My favorite pie is Southern Comfort chocolate pecan pie. You can get the recipe on the Southern Comfort website. Don't worry--the booze all boils off in the oven, but it leaves behind a bit of a smokey taste to the pecans.

I love this pie so much that I have repeatedly set my oven on fire while baking it! Just be careful to use a ten inch pie pan, because the recipe makes a lot of filling, and it goes wooompf when it boils over. The worst pie I ever made was when I threw a whole box of baking soda in the oven to put out the fire and some got into the pe. :-)

My mother's peach cobbler...not the typical you find in recipes. Her's was made in a 9x13 pan with a very flaky pie crust on the bottom...then the peaches...then fold the crust over the top. It didn't cover the whole top...just enough to have nice carmelized edges. YUM! She passed a couple of years ago and no one else's is the same...
