Giveaway, Just Because

  • Because it's a new year.
  • Because it's snowing outside.
  • Because I just passed the 700 followers mark.
  • Because our cozy house makes me feel like curling up somewhere with a good book.
  • Because it's Saturday.
  • Because I'm feeling a wee bit generous.
  • Because I appreciate each and everyone of you who takes a moment out of your day to read my ramblings.
I am giving away another true to life Amish fiction book. Written by Amish author, Mabel Burkholder. The book is called "When Crickets Sing"  It follows David Weaver as he goes through his teenage years, his courtship with a girl from town , the difficulties they faced, and his marriage.

I used to enjoy this book a lot and was happy when they decided to reprint them. I am now giving one of you the opportunity to become the owner of a copy of this book.

All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me what you have been reading recently. For a second entry place a link to this giveaway on your blog and then come back and leave another comment telling me you did.

I will choose a winner on Monday Jan 10 using Random.org
Disclaimer: The only compensation I get from doing this giveaway is a warm happy feeling that I get from knowing someone else will get to read one of my favorite books.
Giveaway is closed and a winner chosen.

  9. I would like to thank you for sharing all your wonderful stories with the public. I found your blog a couple of weeks ago and read from the start. These memories will be cherished by your children, I am sure. I am not currently reading a book for myself, but one to my children (does that count?) called Bible Stories to Read and Color. We keep it as a story book (it's huge!) although the pictures were meant to be colored.

  11. Thanks for doing this giveaway and for sharing your stories. I've been a follower for a while now, and like many others have said, was so fascinated that I went back and started at the beginning and have read every single post. You're a wonderful writer, and have a super-interesting story. I am usually reading 2-4 books at a time. For now, I'm reading Decision Points by G.W. Bush for my leisure reading, and Know Why You Believe by Paul Little and God Knows My Name by Beth Redman for my devotional time. (And the Bible, of course. hehe) Next on the list is Beth Wiseman's Seek With All Your Heart. (I think that's the title.) Thanks!!!!

  43. Congrats on passing the 700 mark. I would love to be considered as I know absolutely nothing about Amish and have always been interested in learning more about it.

What have I been reading? All I can about bonsai and one book in particular - "Bonsai - Its art, Science, History and Philosophy" by Deborah R. Koreshoff. Another thing I really really want to learn about and hopefully soon will know enough to buy something to give it a go and make my own bonsai - even if it takes me the next 30 years.

  46. I have two favorite books, besides the Bible. They have impacted me so much that it is as if I just read them. #1: Deadline/Randy Alcorn
It made me see Heaven in such a refreshing way. Very, very encouraging. #2 This Present Darkness/Frank Peretti. Excellent book when you believe in spiritual warfare in your head, but the awareness of it just doesn't go any farther. Eye opener!

  59. I'm usually in the middle of two or three books, and right now is no exception. I'm reading a cookbook that I really like, "Real Food for Healthy Kids", the local horticultural society's planting guide for our area, and another book on gardening (the name escapes me at the moment). Our winters are usually mild enough that we can begin planting very early in the spring, so this is seed-starting time for me!
