Reading ... I'm reading through Luke in my morning Bible time. A verse that stood out to me this morning is how God gives the Holy Spirit to us if/when we ask. In nonfiction I just finished Eve in Exile by Rebekah Merkle. It had been recommended to me with glowing reports of how life changing and inspiring it is. I picked it up at the library, and yes, it's a good book, but apparently I approached it with expectations that were too high. I didn't learn anything new, so it wasn't life changing for me. I would recommend it though for anyone who is looking to learn more about Biblical womanhood.

Writing ... the girls and I have been dedicating two hours a day to writing. It's been a good thing to actually have a time carved out to sit down and write. As a lot of things do around here, it has turned somewhat competitive to see who gets the most written in those two hours. On Thursday the report at the end of our two hours was: Sharon 2000+ words, Rosie Mae 1500+, and me .... a whopping 84. Thankfully not everyday is like that for me.

Watching ... I watched I Can Only Imagine on a DVD I had borrowed from the library. It was good. My expectations going in weren't that high, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. I'll probably watch it again someday.

Listening ... to Air1 mostly. I'm really enjoying one of their newer songs, which means I'll get YouTube up several times a day to listen to it.

Cooking ... Mexican for dinner tonight. That will include fried rice, quesadillas, and a salad.

Drinking ... surprise, surprise! I actually had something other than water yesterday when I enjoyed a glass of lemonade.

Wearing ... a brown flower patterned skirt.

It has pockets! Let's take a minute and let that sink in .... pockets!! I love pockets, and have been perplexed at the lack of them in women's clothing. That is something I miss about my Amish clothes. I always had plenty of pockets on them.

Loving ... the misty, moisty weather we are experiencing this morning. It makes me feel like crafting, reading, singing, and baking. Basically all the good housebound related activities.

Playing ... I haven't played anything this week, but a healthy game of Construction was enjoyed one evening when Kenneth's fiancée was here.

Wanting ... a housekeeper. Actually, probably not. It would annoy me having someone else poking around my house even if they were cleaning it.

Needing ... a few ingredients I forgot to pick up when I went grocery shopping. It's for a school project for Sharon, so we'll just set it aside until after my next grocery run.

Crafting ... some fun paper craft projects for Steven's art.

Disliking ... this horrible virus we're still dealing with.

Later today ... I need to go on a paint and parts run for LV. I never dreamed a day would come when the people at an auto parts store would know me by name.

  2. You had me excited about the book there for a minute! I have been disappointed a few times myself after reading really great reviews. Then after buying the book, I really wasn't interested. I'm like you about the movie. I didn't have great expectations about it, but found I really loved it. I love that it was true and life-changing for the Dad and son.

    1. I'm still trying to figure out how time managed to fly by so fast. The engagement is on the longer side, so I'm happy to have him living with us for a little while yet.

  4. Wait... Kenneth has a fiancee?? Did I miss a post? Or was that just a surprise thrown in to see if anyone would notice?
    Well, congratulations either way!

  5. I am right there with you on a love of pockets!!! This love of pockets and the realization that pockets were vitally important began as a child- I am told I would not wear anything without pockets! lol :O)

    1. Pockets were so needed in much earlier times, but weren't sewn into clothing. Ladies sewed two pockets on a string they tied around their waist under their skirts. The skirts had slits so they could get their hands into their "pockets."

    2. How interesting. Although I love pockets, I'm not sure I'd want to go to those lengths to have them.

  6. I was wondering the same thing if I missed a post. Sneaky putting his Kenneth engagement news in this post. Congrats to the couple.

  9. OK. I had to go back and re-read your post THREE times before I found Kenneth's fiancée. Goodness!
I know what you mean about pockets; I have a couple of Sunday dresses that don't have pockets and it is annoying. Still, I have enough in the hip department that I really don't need anything else sticking out. My mum used to sew the pockets on my coats SHUT. Can you imagine a five year old with no pockets? She said I used to give her all sorts of impassioned speeches about why oat should have pockets (I guess I started early), but she didn't seem to care.

    1. It's so easy to skim blog posts. As they say ... third time is the charm. :)

I can't imagine a five year old without pockets. I hope you get plenty of them to enjoy now.

  10. Congratulations to you all on Kenneth's engagement! I have a son who is Kenneth's age (and, coincidently, his name is also Kenneth!), who has been homeschooled for the last ten years. My Kenneth doesn't meet a lot of people, since we are at home most of the time, and I have worried often about how he will eventually find a wife. I understand that your kids are homeschooled, too, and I would very much like to know...how did your Kenneth meet his fiancee?

    1. Thanks for your congratulations.

Kenneth met his fiancée when we joined one of the local homeschool groups. Her family attends our church as well.

I've had the same thoughts about our girls, but I trust everything will work out in time.

  12. Wow, congratulations to Kenneth and his fiancée.
I love the floral print in your skirt.
I agree about dresses with pockets. I want deep pockets on the front.
Sounds like you have a very busy household. Hope you get rid of the crud soon. It does seem to hang on.

  13. I'm really sorry to hear about the virus that your family has been dealing with. I pray that it will soon be a thing of the past.

It seems as though everyone is enjoying life there. I love the two hour writing each day. I don't know if I could write for two hours, but I'd love to give it a try...maybe this winter when I'm not quite as busy. Sounds wonderful!

I love pockets, too! I like the pattern of your skirt in the picture. Love the colors...and the flowers...so feminine.

I have had the same expectations before about a book that I've read really wonderful reviews on...but then when I've finished reading it I have had the same thoughts as you...there really wasn't anything that I didn't already know or do. I was blessed with such a godly pastor's wife when I first came to know the Lord and I will always be thankful for that because she taught, not just by word, by more importantly for me, by her example the Biblical wife's role.

Have a wonderful week ahead, Mary Ann.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Dianna.

It's always disappointing when books don't live up to their expectations. How nice that you had a pastor's wife you could learn from.
