Bits and Pieces

Outside my window instead of a clear blue October skies it appears as if November would have already arrived. Bleak, gray, and drab.

It makes me feel like doing some sewing and trying my hand at some Pinterest-y crafts.

I'm making our favorite fruitcakes. It takes quite a while to make it. A full 45 days. But the end results always make me say it was worth all the aggravation, so I'm doing it again this year.

October is fire safety month and Buddy seems to be playing the part. He loves Sailor's old fireman hat.

I have been enjoying some good books lately and when digging through our big book cupboard I found some books I had bought in hopes to share them with you. Stay tuned for some fun giveaways in the near future.

  2. It's just as gray and drab here. I've been wanting to start a new cross stitch project for awhile. Perhaps now is the time. :)

  4. Buddy is adorable! Your lovely border will chase away the wintery day! I admire folks who can work on complicated recipes and have them turn out wonderful and delicious. 45 days is a long time to be making something! If it has more than five ingredients and takes more than 30 minutes to prepare, it is out of my patience and attention span! I can't wait to hear about your fruit cake!

  5. I just finished your books last night and I really loved them. I will be passing them on to a few little girls I know that I am sure will identify with Lily. My 9 year old son is enjoying them too, I didn't think he would becuase he is a very active boy, but he seems to identify with Joseph in the story. He is constantly asking me if something really happened as if I know you personally,:) and wants to know more details. You have a real knack for capturing the hearts and imagination of children. Thank you for sharing your story.

  6. Fruitcake is my favorite thing in all the world. Even better than chocolate! Some people make fun of it, but I've never understood why. I once ate an entire five pound cake in a long weekend, from Thursday night to Monday evening. Toasted with cream cheese is probably my favorite.
