Bit of an Update

First up ... thank you so much for all the prayers!
Yesterday marked two weeks since the accident/explosion in which LV was hurt, and hospitalized for several days.
He has made a lot of progress in healing already. His face looks basically back to normal after all the pieces of rusty shrapnel were removed and it has had some time to heal.
His eyes ... the left one he had vision return to it. Not back to where it had been, but it has progressed enough that he is able to do some office work.
His right eye is still blind. Several surgeries were performed on it already, and there is another one scheduled to happen once his eye has healed enough from the previous ones they had done.
     He's dealing with a lot of do's and don'ts.
Do ... eat a lot of fish. This has not been a problem for him at all, since he loves fish. I've been trying to keep the recipes switched up so he doesn't get tired of eating fish daily.
Do ... multiple times a day eye care.
The don'ts list is much, much longer. I won't go into all of it, but we're working with the challenges it presents.
We're so thankful for the progress that has been made, and look forward to a lot more over the next weeks as he continues to heal

  5. Praise God that LV is home and starting to heal! I'm praying that both eyes will come back to full function. This may be nosey but... I have been wondering about your finances as this has disrupted LV's ability to work at least for these few weeks and possibly longer. I was wondering if I (or anyone else) could possibly send a gift, such as a WalMart gift card to help with groceries or such...
Just know that I care, even though we have never met, and would like to help if possible.

We've been giving our financial concerns and needs to God. While we weren't going to go around asking for help, we are gratefully accepting what ever God lays on people's hearts to give.

  8. My husband has glaucoma, and lives with vision in one eye. The left is barely there, now, at age 49. He still drives himself to dialysis, ect, though is very careful. Hang in there, give him and yourself/family time to adjust. Life is still good!

  11. As the others have said, we're all praying - and willing to "donate to the cause". If nothing else, we send you a big hug!

One bit of silver lining - if LV has vision in his left eye, he can still drive, although DMV put restrictions on his license.

  15. So glad to hear he is steadily improving. Prayers continue for sight returning to his right eye. Eating a lot of fish is new to me for healing. Interesting. Living where I do, we eat a lot of seafood. Always heard fish oil is good for the body.

    1. I wouldn't have thought to eat a lot of fish to help his eyes, but if the doctor recommends it, we're going to do it. :)

  17. Thanks for updating us. I'm glad there's healing, and vision has returned to one of his eyes. I know how difficult it is adapting to the loss of sight, and I'm glad LV won't have to make that kind of an adjustment any time soon. As he's no doubt finding, dealing with decreased vision is hard enough. I hope what they're doing with his other eye will be successful, and he can regain vision in that one too.

    1. We are so very thankful for the sight that has returned to his left eye. Having to lead him while he was completely blind ... while I was glad to assist him, there was also a lot of wondering what our life will be like.

  22. Dear Mary Ann, all it requires for a major disaster to strike in one’s life is a single moment of distraction. I can understand what kind of trauma you also would have gone through after LV’s accident. It is so pleasing to hear he is recovering well and you are slowly getting your life back in track. Our continued prayers will always be with you.
