Blessing

Visits from Amish family is very rare, and usually when it does happen there is a certain degree of awkwardness and a general uncomfortable feeling involved.
LV's parents were planning to be here last evening and we were hesitantly looking forward to seeing them. The hesitant part came from the expectation of having to listen to a bit of a sermon on how we should repent and come back to the Amish church.
The sermon never happened. We enjoyed a meal together, and visiting afterwards.
The part that still has me a little choked up this morning is when they were ready to leave LV's Dad stopped by the door and spoke a blessing over LV and our family.
I can't even begin to express how much that meant to us.

  1. Sometimes we worry about things that will NEVER come to fruition....silly us! We recently had a similar situation, not knowing what would occur. I released it, and decided to 'go with the flow', and we had a wonderful time!! No anxiety, no expectations, just a fun visit! Blessings!!!

  2. I am so glad that your visit went well. My thinking is that it showed just how much LV's parents love your little family. Just knowing the Amish thinking on leaving the faith, it showed great love and caring for him to do such a thing. I'm so happy for all of you, especially LV.
    Blessings,

  5. How beautiful is that?! God is so good to give you a visit with your in-laws free of incrimination and full of blessings. Perhaps they've come to accept that you're where God wants you to be. I'm so happy for all of you!
