Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. When is your next big deadline? What's it for?
My next deadline is getting a few portfolios together and turning them in. I'm planning on spending most of my day working on that.

2. May is National Barbecue Month. Do you prefer cooking indoors or out? What's the best thing about a barbecue? What's the last thing you cooked on an outdoor grill?

I prefer cooking, and eating indoors. I can't think of anything good about a barbeque. The last thing that was cooked on our outdoor grill was probably burgers, back in 2009. I really detest the flavor of grilled foods, and after we moved our grill became a birdhouse before we got it set up properly, and by now it doesn't appear to be fit to use for food preparation. We really just need to get rid of it. I, for one, will not miss it.

3. What is one thing on your "never again" list?

I don't really like to use the word never, because so often it seems I get deliberately proved wrong and end up doing the thing I said I would never do.

There is a restaurant on our never again list, that I'm really hoping stays on there. Everything about our experience there had been terrible.

4. What's something that annoys you about people your own age? Something you love about your generation?

Something that annoys me is how easily offended and "me me" this generation seems to be.

Something I love ..... maybe that I have friends my own age?

5. Lilac, iris, hyacinth, pansy...your favorite purple flower?

I like all of them, but pansies have an extra special place in my heart, probably because they used to be my grandmother's favorite flower.

6. What's a song that always calms you down?

I really, really love scripture lullaby songs. They're so soothing, and calming. My favorite is this one:

7. What's the last thing you donated?

The last thing ...... does money count?

I do have a pile of things here waiting to be taken to Goodwill.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Does this sound terrible that I'm already missing winter? I like spring and fall a lot, but we're right at the point where it's getting too warm for me. I listen to people complain about winter for months on end, so surely no one should mind hearing me complain about summer.

  1. I have always loves pansies too, although there aren't any flowers I don't enjoy. Right now. here in Ontario, we have trilliums living their short lives. So pretty. We aren't allowed barbecues as we live in an apartment. I usually enjoy barbecued food. Don't eat hamburgers much at any time.

  2. I love the cooler weather and now that we are in Washington, the climate is amazing (even the rain, which is not as bad as people think it is!). I am not a hot weather person at all so I don't mind if you complain about summer at all!

  4. I am a spring and fall person also. I think the heat just got too hot, too fast for me. Today is a cooler so I am liking it better. We have a charcoal grill that my hubby loves to cook on. When he is home, he grills and I get a break from cooking. I don't like gas grills, they leave a funny flavor on the food. We don't get that with charcoal and we don't use the easy lite kind with lighter fluid...YICK! I am a lilac person! I love the light purple ones best!

  5. Pansies are a fav. of mine, too! I know what you mean about the heat. Hear in Atlanta, we've already reached 90 degrees and summer isn't even here yet!

  6. I am also a spring and fall kind of girl. I am on the big hustle to get things done, because when the heat rolls in I just can't muster that kind of energy. I love snow, but just wish winter weren't quite so long. weather extremes just aren't good for extended periods of time!

  7. I'm a spring and fall kind of girl, too. And pansies are my favorite, although I do love a purple petunia - they look so velvety.

But you and I must agree to disagree - I love grilled foods. :)

  8. I love pansies...they look like little children's faces. But, I tend to kill them...so I just admire them from afar. HA! Happy Hodgepodge.

  9. I had pansy too. Shame about the bad restaurant experience. Should be easy not to repeat that. We haven't got to summer here yet so not wishing for winter.

  10. I love all purple flowers, it's my favorite color. The scent of lilacs in bloom is heavenly. I do enjoy grilled foods, in fact, I rarely cook meat indoors in the summertime. I prefer spring and fall, it's not too hot or too cold. Perfection. Have a lovely day!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. I am listening to your music as I type and yes, it is so restful and calming while so reassuring of His presence. Thank you! I am a fall and winter person, but living in the south makes living with those seasons not quite as harsh as yours, I'm sure. But, I do not like summer and the humidity and heat of the deep south. May this be a perfect day for you and me as well.

  12. Pansy is my favorite purple flower. This generation is certainly about ME! I teach and I do believe it is getting worse and worse-it is not about ME. In my Bible study group we are studying-I am Second!

  13. Yes , yes I am looking forward to fall and winter already. I do enjoy the warm sunshine , birds singing , flowers bursting forth in bloom that is part of spring and summer, but I become overwhelmed with all the busyness that the warm weather brings. This year I am not planting any flowers or gardening to see if that will possibly help me with my version of SAD that I struggle with during the warm months of the year.

  15. Yes it is a "me me" generation out there and it annoys me too! My most recent donation was a money one.

I live in Texas. It seems like we have two weeks of fall and spring, then it's hot.I'm very cold-natured but I think I am starting to prefer winter.

  17. Pansies are among my favorite flowers, too.
Missing winter already? Me, too, just a little bit, but only because of the annoying mosquitoes and gnats.
