Spring Hodgepodge

I know I'm late with getting this posted but so far my day has been extra busy and included a run to the Dr. with Buddy.  In case you're wondering, he's doing fine.
1. Spring is in the air (at least in my neck of the woods) and the birds are singing...what's your favorite bird?

Nothing quite beats the joyful song of a happy robin in the spring. During the winter I especially enjoy the nuthatches and chickadees and the splash of color from cardinals and blue jays though I'm happiest if blue jays stay away from the bird feeder since they're  so bossy and chase all the other birds away. For summer entertainment watching the humming birds is a lot of fun. There are so many other birds I love too that I almost feel bad for not mentioning all of them.

2. Speaking of birds...do you tweet? If so tell us your screen name and we'll come flocking to your Twitter site. Even if you don't let's all pretend here that we do-in 140 characters or less, sum up your week so far.

I do have a twitter account but I don't tweet.
Full of unexpected surprises. Can't wait to see what happens next.

3. Its been reported recently that employers are not only viewing the facebook pages of potential hires but they're also requesting your facebook password to have a look at what you've kept from public view. What say you?

I say there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed. And asking for Facebook passwords is one of them.

4. It's April and you know what that means-Major League Baseball is back in action. What's your favorite baseball movie? If that's too hard, what's your favorite sports themed movie?

Even though we love baseball we have never watched any baseball movies. The only sports related movie that I can think of that we have watched is Facing the Giants.

5. Something else this season brings-asparagus. Yes please or no thanks? If it's yes please what's your favorite way to have it prepared?

Yes please!  We like it cut in ¼" slices and steamed and then served in a delicious cream sauce.

6. What drives you?

My family and making every day count.

7. April 18th is International Jugglers Day...can you juggle?

If you're asking if I can juggle items by tossing them in the air and catching them, then no, I can't. But I'm approaching expert status of juggling all the things I need to get done and only drop something occasionally.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Sailor recently wanted to honor one of my accomplishments and asked me to sit in the middle of the kitchen. He ran to get the tire pump and stripped a confetti filled balloon over it and blew it up until it popped showering me with confetti.

I loved the thought behind it even though I don't care for popping balloons. I felt quite honored being showered with confetti like that.

  1. I've never seen Facing the Giants. Gonna have to look for that one. Hope Buddy is feeling better. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  2. Okay, while the popping balloon may be a little rattling, what a cool way to ensure the confetti flies all over. What a sweet gesture!

  3. Glad Buddy is doing well! :)

I like all birds in general, but my favourites are owls and robins.

I think the Facebook passwords thing is out of order. I don't put anything on mine (private or otherwise) that I care about people seeing, but I don't think passwords should be given out for anything unless you choose to give them out. Personally, I'd refuse, even if it cost me the potential job.

That was sweet with Sailor and the balloon full of confetti.

  4. We love baseball as well! I love the St. Louis Cards since we were living in that area whe we first started taking our children to the ball games and it was awesome! My son is a tried and true Angels fan. There are lots of good baseball movies out there ...Angels in the Outfield --an old Disney movie is probably my favorite. We also love Facing the Giants. That was an awesome movie. As to your question about birds...I love hummingbirds best! Thanks for your post! I love your fun, positive blog. Enjoy your springtime!

  5. I love all sorts of birds, but we have a finch feeder right outside the den window - I can see it from the computer -and I enjoy watching the goldfinches.

Since I have lived all my life in the Baltimore area, the Orioles are my "team of choice". This year, it looks as if I may be able to watch a game without cringing!

I have a blog, but don't Twitter or do Facebook.

I adore asgaragus, but hubby doesn't care for it, so we seldom eat it. Still, if you're not going to like something, it's good to pick something expensive!

  6. Popping a balloon full of confetti (haha ... I almost typed spaghetti), anyway .... popping a balloon full of confetti over you is so sweet. What a lovely show of support and pride in you.

  7. What a sweet thing your son did - though I must agree with you, I'd enjoy the confetti more than the popping balloon!

You have a special son there!

    :)

  8. I love these kinds of posts because I like learning new things about my blogger friends. So glad Buddy is doing well - doctor visits are seldom too much fun with little ones. I recently tried a recipe for asparagus and I could've eaten all of it myself (but I shared because I'm nice) - lay it all out on a pan, drizzle with olive oil (and then I ran my hands over it so they'd all get coated), then I crushed a clove of garlic and rubbed that all over it, tiny bit of salt and some pepper, and put it in the oven for maybe 10 or 15 minutes (don't remember) but it was de-lish! Have a good weekend ~
