Laundry days always hold a certain amount of frustration for me when it's time to pair up the socks and I'm left with an assortment that have lost their mate. And according to other articles of clothing that were now on the missing list it seemed as if the dryers appetite was growing and had now developed a taste for shirts and pants besides its usual diet of socks.
Strangely though it seemed to have an exceptional hunger for anything that belonged to Sailor. On Friday as we were preparing to leave the house Sailor appeared in a shirt that was decidedly too small for him. After sending him back upstairs to change he appeared with another shirt equally as small and wrinkled so badly that I had to wonder where he had ever managed to dig it up. I sent him back upstairs with instructions to wear one of his shirts that we had bought only a few months ago.
He declared he no longer has any shirts that fit him which prompted me to do an extensive search of his room. Turns out he has way more clothes than he realized. Some were scrunched under his bed, others under a pile of treasures in his closet, still others on the floor behind his furniture.
By the time I was done with his room I had found all the missing shirts and pants and a host of missing socks. The plus side of this adventure is that his room is sparkling clean again and once I iron all his shirts this afternoon I will once again have a well dressed son.
I think his room is the beginning of a thorough fall house cleaning. Who knows how many other forgotten things I will find in the process.

Sounds like some of the same adventures I had in my sons room when he was small...its been a while though :) Blessings
ReplyDeleteThat was an amusing adventure.
ReplyDeleteGood work finding all the missing items. Seems like these clothes hunting adventures continued through the teenage years in our household.
ReplyDeleteSounds like my house a few years ago when my kids were small. Amazing what I would uncover when I did a deep cleaning of their rooms! :-) Wendy
ReplyDeleteGlad that all your lost items were found! Something we all can relate to, I guess.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think you blamed it on the dryer!
ReplyDeleteI used to take inventory of clothing in my oldest son's room. He was just awful ... One day in particular, I shook out a bunch of shirts and several pair of jeans and khakis. They looked clean, had no odor, so I folded them neatly and placed them on his bed. He thanked me later than night for 'doing' his laundry. LOL!!!!
My kids clean their rooms by throwing all clothes on the floor, clean or dirty, in the dirty clothes hamper. Ahhh, the joys of motherhood.
ReplyDeleteHummm...Sounds so familiar. Girls are just as bad, even 14 year olds....
ReplyDeleteFunny story! Kids. But I have to admit, I don't think I was much better way back when. :)
ReplyDeleteGo to Falling Water for a date, it is awesome! Go to Kennywood only if you like amusement parks, go on an off weather day, but not bad weather, a little overcast keeps lots of people away.
