My mind goes in the direction of not being persecuted for our beliefs and having the liberty to follow Jesus.
I think it's partly because of our heritage and even though it has been several hundred years since our ancestors were persecuted for their beliefs the fact that we heard about it so often in church, in Amish school curriculum, in books on home library shelves that it was ingrained in us to never take the freedom of worship for granted.
Since I don't care for ketchup or mustard I prefer to eat my hotdogs without anything except a bun or maybe a dollop of sour cream.
3. If you were going to enter an eating contest what would be on the menu?
The very thought of entering an eating contest almost makes me feel sick. There is one thing though that I have never eaten to my hearts content and that is chocolate.

I would say more like a democracy.

Almost anywhere that involved shade and a good book.

No, we don't have a guest room. When ever we have overnight guests Sailor generously gives up his room and sleeps on a blanket nest in our storage room.
I think part of the reason he likes sleeping there so well is from all the shelves filled with books and other interesting things. I'm pretty sure he enjoys reading before he goes to sleep when ever he sleeps in that room.
7. Next Wednesday America celebrates her independence. Do you have any special plans for the 4th of July? If you live outside the USA when and how does your country celebrate its own patriotic holiday?
We don't have any special plans made for the 4th.

Last evening Sunbeam announced that there is a raccoon on our back door steps. I quickly grabbed the camera to take a picture of it.
It seemed a little too tame to us when after I took a picture of it, it stood on its hind legs to watch us instead of scurrying away.
I've never had sour cream on a hot dog. That raccoon looks hungry : )

We live in the country and my husband loves to put out food for the racoons at night and then he watches them when they come to eat. He's a big animal lover!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried sour cream on a hot dog - but I would. We haven't had hot dogs in a while but there's nothing like a good hot dog from the grill. LOVE the raccoon pictures! I think he was as interested in you all as you were in him. That's hilarious.

ReplyDeleteI don't want rabies-carrying animals hanging around my back door. Raccoons do show up from time to time here in the city (I live in Charleston, SC.) In the city, I don't think the night-time animal rule applies - raccoons have become so used to eating cat food, dog food, etc., that they come around any time, just like the possums.
We've had some raccoons visiting lately too. They have discovered my kitty food and now come back from time to time ooking for more. They are cute - but I don't want them to "rely" on me as their food source!
ReplyDeleteI raised a coon once when its mother got killed. As loving as a coon could be, but when he became agitated at about 5 months old when he felt the need to mate he sort of attacked me on our porch in a frenzy. Not biting, but just crazily climbing me and making crazy sounds etc... and when a coon climbs you it hurts. Also, the conservation officer explained to us that there is a risk in handling a raccoon that involves a kind of worm that settles behind the human eye and is or can be fatal. Raccoons are not as out and about in the daytime and it could mean sickness if they are. I think that little guy looks like he is used to people. I still love raccoons, but not near home - their ugly side comes out when they come across chickens. We have had racoons somehow break into our pens many times and kill many of our chickens - horrible. We trap and relocate them away from farms.

ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Sailor - bedding down in a room full of books would not be a sacrifice. As a kid I was always the one in our house to give up my room since it was the larger one - but I had to sleep on the living room couch. (No sneaking a good read.)
Curling up in a nest of blankets with a good book sounds like a wonderful thing; I'd give up my room for that too!
