Last night I was feeling about as low as I can recall feeling in years. Not being able to sit at the computer for longer than a few minutes I was doing all my writing for my second manuscript from the recliner in the corner of our living room.
But yesterday afternoon I lost it all. And the very thought of having to rewrite everything that I had spent so many hours on already was almost too much. Maybe I over reacted partly because I'm already at the stage of resembling a whale that waddles like a duck and this was the last straw. I was feeling all kinds of chaotic but the joyful part was missing.
This morning the manuscript is still just as gone as it was last night but at least I am feeling much better. It's beautifully sunny outside, everyone is healthy, and I have more blessings than I can count. Feelings and emotions are such fickle things and I don't want to let troubles and inconveniences rob me of the joy of life. So with a song in my heart I am ready to start tackling my writing project again.

Oh my, that's so disappointing, but I hear there is a way to retrieve lost files on your computer.
ReplyDeleteYou could start here, maybe.

you can retrieve it, let me know if you need to know how. My son has done it for me.

I do hope you are able to retrieve it. How frustrated you must have been. But you are so positive, that is great.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's somewhere. Do a search using a word or exact phrase that would be more or less unique to the manuscript and see what turns up. Search the whole machine.
ReplyDeleteOh honey, what a bummer. I agree with the other posters, there are ways to retrieve it (if you haven't tried already). Hope you find it.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that your writing is lost. Maybe the revised version will be even better! Happy you are feeling better about it today.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
Funny how so many times things look better in the morning!
ReplyDeleteEven if they don't look better in the morning, they at least don't take on a life of their own like they do when they first happen! Been there, done that... when the computer freezes up and you realize you haven't hit "ctrl S" for a long, long time. Being pg doesn't help any, either, BUT you can't have another darling baby without a pregnancy and your manuscript will no doubt be much richer in the end for having another darling to sweeten your story :-) Time and God have a way of soothing the headaches of our days! May He bless your days, your family and your writing!
ReplyDeleteFeelings and emotions are ESPECIALLY fickle things when you're carrying that child in your belly! Just hang in there! Glad you're back to joyful today.
ReplyDeleteHow disappointing for you! I hope you can find it! You have a wonderful perspective though, I often struggle with feelings and they do take away from the enjoyment of life and the grace and goodness God has shown. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI don't pretend to be a computer guru, but I know that many 'lost' files can be rescued. I used to work for a computer repair place, and J. would find all sorts of things that were thought to be gone. There's hope...
ReplyDeleteBut, while reading where your attitude changed this morning, I couldn't help but think of the scripture in Psalms that says, "Weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning." BLESSINGS!
Don't lose heart ! That file can be recovered ! It will cost about a hundred dollars at Best Buy but those geeks can do it. They can recover everything on that hard drive. It is there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteRedifining your absolute prorities is so refreshing. Knowing where to lay your burdens, even better. Yours is a blessed journey. I'm sure we all will celebrate your words as they are recovered or even rewritten.
