We drove behind this buggy for a little while on the way to church on Sunday morning. Coming home we noticed women leaving the Amish church house and walking out to the buggies parked in front of the horse barn. It was their Sunday for "ordnungs" church and families were taking turns to go out to sit in their buggies to eat the lunch they had packed that morning. Church would last all day and end with all the members having to remain seated after the children were dismissed, they would then be getting an update on any new rules, offences would be cared for, and plans made to have communion in two weeks. We were so happy to be able to drive past their church house and not have to worry about what new rules would be affecting us.
I love spring flowers. Our yard and flower beds are filled with these poking up through the leaves that had never been raked last fall while we were gone for several months on a business thing. I tried to rake the yard a little yesterday but the ground was still almost too wet, and when a shower popped up I gave up and went to find other things to do. I was glad that I managed to remember to take a picture before they became rain beaten.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I absolutely love your blog (I am an avid reader of Amish stories). Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBlessed Tresses (Robin)
Thank God I am not in those serious, soul searching council Meetings any more, where I searched my soul to see if my dress is just right, my covering is just right, even my cap strings are the right length and tied just so-so.
ReplyDeleteThose are both beautiful pictures! I don't fret over the leaves in flower beds.We rake tons of leaves in the fall, but I intentionally leave some around the flowers as I see them as a winter coat placed by the Creator. The interview is a good one. Thank the Lord He brought you and your family out of that system and saved you by His grace.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, both of them. The yellow so vivid.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your blog.

Galatians 3 & 5 come to mind. "The law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now, that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.....It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
ReplyDeleteA most interesting interview.
ReplyDeleteI truly love Daffydils and crocus and other bulbed flowers because they are my reminder that Spring is here as they poke up through the ground. They remind me of God's grace and the beauty He can surround us in.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your interview.
ReplyDeleteWe are starting to get some signs of flowers here as well.
Have a great day!
Your interview was very good. I am so happy for you and your family that you have found freedom in Jesus, from man made rules. I'm sorry that your family believes in shunning you for following Jesus. May it be Gods will for that to change some day. Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to have such freedom in Christ and not be bound by man made rules.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Connie

Becca said it perfectly , the need for the old rules/laws is gone! It's clear to me now why you left the Amish society. I am curious about what church you are attending now ?
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you and thank you for sharing your journey. Claire

ReplyDeleteI love your pictures. The spring flowers (we called them here naricssen) have such a bright yellow color.
I went to school in Grove City and student taught in Neshannock, so drove through Volant and on the New Wilmington road alot, and if I left too late, often found myself behind buggies. Am reading the parts of your story still with interest!
