- I wish I could travel back in time and smack the teenage version of myself. Why did I ever think it was a good idea to give my boyfriend an obnoxiously loud, musical alarm clock?
- I wish I wouldn't be such a stickler for following rules. I feel guilty when ever we play Monopoly and put all the money from taxes, community chest, and jail fees in the center and who ever lands of Free Parking gets to claim it. It's a game, we're all in agreement. So why am I uneasy? It's not as if some kind of Monopoly police were going to show up and bust us for not following the rules.
- I wish I could slow down time. I declare it seems like there are only three or four days in a week instead of seven.
- I wish our house wouldn't get so dusty, so fast. It's sad having to take valuable time everyday to do dusting, when there are so many other things that would be more fun.
- I wish that you could all see the view from the window where I'm sitting, and feel the cool morning air, and listen to the sounds of singing birds and my wind chimes.
- I wish there was some way I could read all the books I want to read, while still getting all the things done that I want to do.
- I wish being a grownup would be like I used to envision it when I was a child.

I love your blog. Hard to find good, clean thoughts sometimes, but I can count on my fellow Christians to come through!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the Monopoly comment. We do the same thing with the monies paid and whoever gets "Free Parking" gets the money. I always feel slightly guilty too.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Blessings,
Betsy
I wish I could feel cool morning air. Wait! Our mini-vacation to Blowing Rock and Boone in NC is coming up! I can hold out until then.
ReplyDeleteI think all of us wish we could give our teen-aged selves a good smack upside the head - but only on the condition that we could come right back "home". If I had to do it *all* over again, I think I'd commit hari-kari!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get everything done and read books also. Unfortunately I have found that it's one or the other. I can't do both....at least with a good book! There are many things that I wish I could go back and change from my younger days also.
ReplyDeleteWhere does all that dust come from....?
I wish there were days i could have all mine be babies or toddlers again...or even preschoolers....
ReplyDeleteOh! I so identify with your post! I remember reading somewhere, "If wishes had wings, Grandma would be an airplane." Ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI get to hear the birds sing every morning and feel the cool breeze ... and smell the meadow grass that was cut the day before, trying to dry off from soaking in the early morning dew. Soon, Bill will be pruning the Christmas trees and everything will smell like balsam ...of course a lot of that will be just coming from his work pants and boots that I make him leave outside on the porch, but... it still smells wonderful!
I have 7 books sitting nearby; 2 are for fall... I'm only part way through #1 :-( Why? Because I have a garden calling my name...peas, carrots, beans all waiting to be picked or pulled. Corn and squash, soon.. then onions, tomatoes and peppers (we hope.) The radishes are done... and they were delicious!
The dust bunnies are going to be named, soon.
I miss playing Monopoly with my nephew (same age) out under the apple tree on warm summer days. Sometimes we let his sister (my niece) play, but she was a few years younger and since we were so mature at 10 having an 8 year old play was ok only some of the time. She loved to read, though...probably didn't get as frustrated, either! We played every summer day. He was such a creep, though... he would "pretend" to be broke, but what I wasn't seeing was him pushing his $500's and $100's deep under the board when I wasn't looking; then, when he would land on one of my properties, with or without a hotel, he would lift the edge of the board and pull out a bunch of $500's... Grrrrr! He did this all the time. He also licked most of the Oreo cookies "claiming" them... we never argued when he did this... it was just his way. He would also claim the deepest serving dish of cornstarch pudding by spitting into it... boys... they're so disgusting! :-)
He and his family live too far away for us to have any fun, together... I miss him, and always prayed his children took after their mother! ;-)
Good heavens! This should have been a post on my own blog! Mary Ann, you always get me thinking!
Regarding the wish we all have that we could find time to read, and still get our housework done - have you ever considered getting a portable player what we used to call a Walkman, although now they play CDs) and listening to your books while you wash dishes, weed the garden, etc.? I get a LOT of "reading' done that way.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog! Love the wishes and I feel the same way!
