Meet Our Newest Addition
The other morning a vehicle came swooping into the driveway in front of our garage, a car door slammed, and then it sped away. But not before the children witnessed someone hurriedly dropping several cats off.
They hung around here for the rest of the day, much to our cat's dismay. They kept fighting and hissing and by the next morning our cat had been victorious and was once again reigning supreme having chased the others away.
I feel sorry for pets that get dumped off like that.
When someone else dumped off this little dog it found its way into our hearts, and though our cat protested it appears they will learn to get along. We will be allowing him to call this his new home.

Ah, I see you'll be using a crate to train the lil cutie. That's really the best method I've used that works quickest. (You probably knew that already.)
ReplyDeleteWhy do people get pets they don't want? I mean really. O.O
Have a great week #
I am so glad you are giving her a home. Maybe the kitties will fins them a home as well :) I hate when people do that to animals...it seems so mean. Blessings
ReplyDeleteAwwwww. I couldn't have resisted a face like that either.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet looking dog! I'm glad you are able to give him a good home!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a cute puppy. It's sad that people drop animals like that. We had a few that adopted us from those situations when I was a child and a few we had to take to the SPCA because of their bad temperaments.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. Why do people think it's ok to drop off cats like that? Why? Because it's a farm? Around here, cats that are turned out end up being food for the coyotes. :-(
ReplyDeleteCute puppy ... glad you could rescue him!
Dropping of an animal like that is such a cowardly act. More often than not these animals starve, or are hit by cars, or, like one commenter noted, become coyote food.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for the little dog, but if you took in every stray that came your way you'd be overrun.
We live in the country and seem to be a magnet for drop offs. Our best companion, Momma Dawg, nested in a broken hay bale to have eight pups. Found homes for all of them and kept her. Brokenhearted when she died. Once someone dropped off a gorgeous blue heeler puppy, covered in white downy hair - looked like a tiny sheep ready for shearing! She was too active for us, and a friend had just lost her long time companion. Now she's a comfort to people, visiting them in hospitals and nursing homes. We have another abandoned (obviously abused) drop off on our back porch now - eagerly waiting our attention, and giving unreservedly in return. Gotta love 'em! Thanks for bringing up happy memories.

ReplyDeleteYou got a new pup!!!! I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to hear all about him/her and its antics, which I'm sure will be many. ♥
ReplyDeleteIt is very nice that you kept the dog. How sweet. I'm not sure of the area you live in but do you have cat rescues? If so, they would take care of cats/kitens dropped off.
ReplyDeleteOur dog came from a rescue. We cannot understand why anyone would not love him. Their loss is our gain. Same with you and your pup.
Pretty pup, looks like it might have some cocker in it. Black cockers are my weakness. I hate when people take the cowards way out and drop defenseless animals.
ReplyDeleteuntil next time...nel
The abandoned pets that we have taken in have turned out to be the best pets. It makes it all the more mysterious to me why they were dumped in the first place.
