I used to nod and smile a lot when my in-laws were alive. First year DH and I were married everyone reminded each other to speak English, not Dutch. I finally started taking sewing or knitting along. One SIL chewed me out for being rude and doing handwork. Pointed out that as I didn't understand what was being discussed, I didn't feel like sitting thre for 8 or 10 hours "smiling and nodding"!
Cute notes! #1 is so true. I had to decipher one (and type it) on my Droid (smart phone) just so I could get my Facebook messages. Bad enough on my computer screen but the Droid's screen?
Nodding and smiling .... I learned to just smile and raise my eyebrows a bit!
I love impatiens, too. I hadn't heard about a disease, though. That's sad! They always make such a nice border (if there's some shade.)
I agree with you about the word verification thing. Since they did that, I can no longer log into my blog but I can log into my dashboard with Chrome. I love impatiens too and I'm looking forward to planting some in my flower boxes on the front porch.
My votes go to stickies number one and three. **smiles** I know I rarely make comments, but please know since I've found your blog I read it every day it is published. Your writings are guaranteed to put a smile on my face every time.
God Bless you, :)
Now onto, just in case I happen to be a robot (sticky #1) LOL
I didn't know about the impatien disease but that figures that one of the few flowers I can grow successfully and with little work, will be wiped out. UGHH... And the word verification - it's so goofy, like when it's a totally normal word followed by a messed up twisted non-word. I click on the little re-do arrow to get a new one but I figure it'll only let me do that so many times. I never tried crossing my fingers and toes though, maybe I'll try that. :)
I'm hard of hearing - so I wind up smiling and nodding a lot! For some reason, when you say, "I can't hear you" people just repeat themselves without speaking up or even slowing down. And if you ask them to repeat themselves more than once *they* get annoyed.
I hadn't heard about the impatiens disease either - they are about the only flower that will bloom in my shady yard. :(
A happily married wife, and mother to four children, former Amish. I will be sharing memories of growing up Amish and the journey that brought me to where I am today.
I love the first one! It is so true.
ReplyDeleteJust smile and nod, sometimes it's all you can do :P
