I am giving away another true to life Amish fiction book. Written by Amish author, Mabel Burkholder. The book is called "When Crickets Sing" It follows David Weaver as he goes through his teenage years, his courtship with a girl from town , the difficulties they faced, and his marriage.
I used to enjoy this book a lot and was happy when they decided to reprint them. I am now giving one of you the opportunity to become the owner of a copy of this book.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Year of Sacrifice by Rebecca LeeAnne Brammer. It's second in a series about the author's grandmother's life during the depression. If you read and liked the Little House books, you would enjoy it! I'm lucky and blessed enough to be friends with the author! :)
I would like to thank you for sharing all your wonderful stories with the public. I found your blog a couple of weeks ago and read from the start. These memories will be cherished by your children, I am sure. I am not currently reading a book for myself, but one to my children (does that count?) called Bible Stories to Read and Color. We keep it as a story book (it's huge!) although the pictures were meant to be colored.

I've been a follower for a while now, and like many others have said, was so fascinated that I went back and started at the beginning and have read every single post. You're a wonderful writer, and have a super-interesting story. I am usually reading 2-4 books at a time. For now, I'm reading Decision Points by G.W. Bush for my leisure reading, and Know Why You Believe by Paul Little and God Knows My Name by Beth Redman for my devotional time. (And the Bible, of course. hehe) Next on the list is Beth Wiseman's Seek With All Your Heart. (I think that's the title.) Thanks!!!!

ReplyDeleteRight now I am reading several books..one being a book called The Rewards of Simplicity (Pam & Chuck Pierce)...which is very inspirational...it speaks of simplifying ones life from the material and spiritual clutter! I am a very simple,plain individual already as far as material processions but,I will confess I carry very much spiritual and emotional baggage that I need to rid myself of once and for all....your book sounds wonderful...I love reading about the Amish. Though it prob'ly doesn't count, since it was on the computer screen and not a real book, lol. Congratulations on the 700 mark!

ReplyDeleteWhat have I been reading? All I can about bonsai and one book in particular - "Bonsai - Its art, Science, History and Philosophy" by Deborah R. Koreshoff. Another thing I really really want to learn about and hopefully soon will know enough to buy something to give it a go and make my own bonsai - even if it takes me the next 30 years.

ReplyDeleteIt made me see Heaven in such a refreshing way. Very, very encouraging. #2 This Present Darkness/Frank Peretti. Excellent book when you believe in spiritual warfare in your head, but the awareness of it just doesn't go any farther. Eye opener!

ReplyDeleteWell, I just finished reading Seek Me With All Your Heart by Beth Wiseman and I loved it. I didn't want it to end. I will be anxiously waiting to read the next book of the series Land of Canaan. I have a few more books that just came in at the library I plan to pick up this week.
I'm usually in the middle of two or three books, and right now is no exception. I'm reading a cookbook that I really like, "Real Food for Healthy Kids", the local horticultural society's planting guide for our area, and another book on gardening (the name escapes me at the moment). Our winters are usually mild enough that we can begin planting very early in the spring, so this is seed-starting time for me!
