We have things to do and places to go and a whole lot of things to get accomplished. But most of those things and places have to wait because of crippling mud we are dealing with right now. I have experienced all kinds of weather in the short period of time I call my life. I have lived through tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, floods, and drought. But I have never before encountered mud on the scale we have now.
Driveways and dirt roads are filled with deep ruts, paved roads are buckling and getting all sorts of eruptions and potholes because of all the moisture that has no where to go. Since we can't do anything else we have been catching up on various odd jobs around our little corner of the earth.
Cleaning up tree limbs and burning them occupied part of a day. The children were all impressed with the bonfire.
There's only a certain amount of baking a person can do before you really don't want to see another cooking spoon for a while.
So now there is really nothing left to do except find a cozy spot and wait until the mud starts drying up and we can continue with our life.
Oh~ I so know how you feel. I could have written this post. I made dinner rolls and cinnamon bread to share with the neighbors yesterday.
ReplyDeleteOnly now we have 9 inches that covered our muddy mess.
I am dreaming of getting my hands into some fresh soil and planting. Many are saying all this moisture will be good for the gardens. What do you think? I hope you post some Amish gardening tips for this city girl is learning but I have much more to learn. There is just nothing more beautiful than a well cared for Amish garden. Last summer we we blessed to eat with an Amish family in Indiana ~I still dream of sitting by her beautiful garden.
Do you like to garden?
The Farmer's Almanac says it will be a late planting this year~what do you think?
Guess we best enjoy the coziness of the indoors before Spring and all the work that comes along!
What a beautiful white cat.
ReplyDeleteWe here are still some weeks away from mud season. Even that is better than this snow.
Marnie
Mud sounds horrible! I have lived where there is flooding and been in earthquakes but mud is just messy.
ReplyDeleteAll your baked stuff looks so yummy - at least you are not going hungry:D
Oh dear! I know just how you feel only we have snow up to our ears!! I've gained 10 lbs baking my fingers to the bone!! (sink) It's almost over now!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings~Sharon
We are in the middle of mud here too. It's either snowing, which melts, or raining. The ground is saturated!
ReplyDeleteOh look at all the goodies! It's enough to make a pregnant lady hungry for sure!
ReplyDeleteNo mud here , were still under the fluffy white stuff.
ReplyDeleteLast weekend was my baking weekend because my daughter and her girlfriend came up for a weekend visit during our winter carnival.
Are those donkeys I see there or am I mistaken? very cute!
Have a great week.
Diane
Mud will be here soon too. When this ice and snow melts, there will be no place for it to go. I didn't know you had miniature donkeys? I'm just a *little* partial to those particular critters :) Be well, and I hope your mud situation improves soon! -Tammy
ReplyDeleteWhat about Sarasota? We have no mud, no snow, not too wet, not too dry. But it is a little bit too cold for southerners.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am partial to those adorable little donkeys?
ReplyDeleteWOW! At all those goodies!
Pretty cat!
I am amazed at how much rain and snow the US (particularly, AR for me) has seen this year. But, here in the Philippines, it hasn't rained since October!
sorry about all the mud, but i wished we lived close to you to help you get rid of all those wonderful baked goods! hope things dry up soon.
ReplyDeletesorry that last comment was from me not kevin. he obviously didn't bother to log himself out!

ReplyDeleteI definitely understand the mud. Sigh. All of that food looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteGosh the lil' donkeys have my heart! I love 'em. And the beautiful snowy kitty!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry about all yr mud. It sounds just awful. Maybe it is a herald of spring? Hope so!
WOW! That baking looks absoulutely delish though.
ReplyDeleteYou will enjoy working it all off when things dry up abit LOL!
Yummy! Those goodies look absolutely delicious. Wish I were sitting at that table right about now. I know what you mean about the mud. We have a very long drive and I hate hearing all the mud slop under my car knowing I will be pulling my car into the garage only to have the mud drop off all over the place. It doesn't make for clean puppy feet either.
ReplyDeleteSpring will be here soon I hope and it will all dry up.
Enjoy your week,
AMY
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a gracious comment. I liked looking over your site and will be back. The baking sure looked good. Hope you have a blessed day!

I wish I was there to help you, too. What was all the baking for - supper that night?? ha ha You take care girl, spring is a comin'!! ♥
ReplyDeleteHi, I am sorry to hear that you are innundated with mud this year. Last year it was snow for us. I like to take these slow times of waiting for the elements to clear, to sew, crochet, write and study the Bible. By the time the weather improves, I have satisfied my sitting down skills and am ready to be outside for the spring gardening. The Lord provides even the storms to replenish nutrients in our gardens just as the storms in our life, reveal to us what's inside so that we can admit our spiritual weeds that need to be plucked, enabeling us to grow a little more from the inside out. Blessings to you and yours, Gwendolyn
ReplyDeleteAll your baked goods look so yummy!
ReplyDeleteI may just have to do some baking today myself.
We are a long way off from the mud as we are still under tons of snow.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that if it ever melts we are going to have the mud.
Thanks for sharing.
I think that the pretty cat has the right idea get up high and wait it out:D
Yuck - mud! I don't like it. :)
ReplyDeleteWow good luck with the mud problem so sorry you have to go through that. That is some good looking food on that table, makes me hungry :o)
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about waiting to get back to life as normal. Between every manner of sickness for 2 months and the craziest weather I've ever seen I just keep trying to remember "this to shall pass"... I can't say that I will be sad to see winter go... Hope things get better for you soon...
