We spent a lot of time outside, by the creek, in the pasture right here by the house. It won't be long before cows will be turned into it, so we're taking advantage of every opportunity we get to spend time there before that happens. Buddy is especially fond of "fishing" and while the rest of us go playing in the water he sits patiently on the bank, with a stick, trying to catch something.
On the days when it rained, and we had to stay indoors, Buddy wanted to do "school" I'm glad he really enjoys learning and doing. Hoping he'll keep that love all through his school years, and beyond.
The girls made a small batch of homemade butter. It was a treat for all of us.
What would childhood be without a swing? The girls built this one themselves. It's not the best, but it has provided hours of fun.
The first spring, after we got married, LV presented a lovely bouquet of flowers to me that he had created from the abundance of umbrella plants. I had seen those plants all my life and never realized they produce lovely flowers.
Keeping with tradition, this week brought the annual umbrella flower bouquet. It looks even more lovely in real life.
The package arrived!!! Thank you so much for the lovely Amish doll and the Amish cookbook. William has already found several recipes he wants me to make. We both enjoy reading the tips and prayers throughout the book. I am going to love using the cookbook a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of Buddy sitting by the creek. Seeing these pictures reminds me of my own youth. The young people of today have no idea what they're missing...sunshine, fresh air, exercise, real time with real people.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely creek to sit beside and the swing takes me back to a swing my dad built for us. So much fun for kids in the summertime. We used to bathe in the creek by my grandmas house. We loved it!
ReplyDeleteYou are giving your children a wonderful childhood full of happy memories. There is no better gift.

How picturesque!

I'm a little old lady, and I still love to swing. Robert Louis Stevenson said it best: "Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing/Ever a child can do", and I am still just a big kid!
ReplyDeleteWe always called those plants May Apples, but I DO think they resemble a bus stop in the rain. Sometimes the sweetest things are hidden from grown-ups. Only the fairies and little children can see them. Fortunately, they grow wild, as I generally manage to kill anything I want to cultivate. The Squire claims I can make plastic flowers wilt.
