My husband has a tooth that was acting very unkindly to him, and so he decided the offender has to be removed. He called a few of his brothers that live in the area to see if they would be willing to step up to the task. They weren't brave enough so as a last ditch effort of avoiding the dentist he called his brother that lives a hundred miles west of us, and he agreed to give it a try if we were willing to drive all the way to their house.
So after work last evening we headed out. The children were excited to get to play with their cousins again, since they have eight children there is never a dull moment around them! We arrived and we had to catch up on all the latest news before we got down to the nasty reason we were there. Once his brother had the instruments of torture in his hand I headed outside, I'll admit I'm a coward, but I just could not bear to actually see the grizzly event unfold. My sister-in-law had no such qualms though and happily took a lot of pictures.
I felt much better outside listening to all the night time sounds and admiring the vast amount of fireflies that were flitting about across the fields.
~~~~~
The children were much too busy to all gather together somewhere for a picture, but I did manage to get one of the girls.
~~~~~
The attempt of at home dentistry was not successful. So an appointment will be made with a professional. For anyone brave enough I am including one little picture that shows just a little of their painful attempts. If you're not brave you might want to find something a little safer to look at.

I had warned you.
The children are precious! I would have gone outside too! I don't mind going to dentist and always wondered why so many fear them.
ReplyDeleteOh your girls are sweet... I love their little 'house.' And oh my, it seems a trip to the dentist would be much easier!!

Why is it so much easier for a Man to have his tooth pulled out by pliers than to go to the dentist? Silly Man! The little girls are sweet, I'd much rather see them than unprofessional dentistry! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog yesterday, and absolutely love your stories and pictures. Thank you for sharing your life!
ReplyDeleteEww... If I need a tooth extraction, I'm going to demand novocaine!
ReplyDeleteAt least the kids had fun playing with cousins.
Oh, sweet mother of pearl, you must be kidding! I'm wondering if it NOT working caused even more pain for him?? I think it's funny that he had to call several brothers before he got one that said, "OK, what the heck? Come on over!" And they're standing! Your husband looks cute, but I'll have to really try to get that picture out of my head. Hey, in all fairness, you did warn us!
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, the kids got to see their cousins and that's always fun. They look adorable. Those little dresses and barefeet - does it get cuter than that?? I don't think so!
I am loving that he was holding his head together in case the tooth-pulling ripped his whole head apart!
ReplyDeleteDropping by to say congratulations you were a winner in my Sew-Mama-Sew giveaway. You will be pleased it wasn't the puppy ;-)
Thank you for your nice comment at my blog...I've enjoyed reading about your family and will continue to visit...your stories are interesting.
ReplyDeleteI found you the other day and am enjoying your blog. Oh, my. I am going to the dentist in 3 weeks to get a pesky wisdom tooth pulled. I really don't know if it would be worse to have it done without the Novocaine. The sight of the needle coming at me and the pain of that sets me off into anxiety mode.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is funny, like the above commenter said. Looks like he's holding his head together.
God bless you this week
Kim
ouch, that sounds quite painful! I do hope that his tooth is feeling better now.

That made me laugh! How brave or how, um um um.... not so smart... I am still laughing. Give me the Novocaine please!!!
ReplyDeleteBut rampant blogging can become addictive. ;)
Thanks for visiting OSL and good luck with in the giveaaway!
Buy for now!
Now I have a question, when you say former Amish does that mean you are not Amish anymore? If you aren't, why? I have so many questions. Aren't I supposed to comment or complement? ;-)
ReplyDeleteRe: Ashley
ReplyDeleteWe are no longer Amish. The reason of our decision to leave that culture is long. If you keep following my blog I will come to the part where we made the hardest decision of our life (that of leaving the Amish)as I chronicle the journey through life that brought a shy little Amish girl to where I am now, Still kind of shy but no longer Amish.
Owwww. I hate going to the dentist (probably because of all the $$ right along with the pain) but DIY dentistry is not something I'd attempt. I'm glad your dh was brave enough, even though it wasn't successful. Hope he's pain free soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I'm going to the professional later this month. Precious line of little girls:)
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful blog, and life. I just found you and am thankful so far, as I read your words and look at your photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm also thankful no one needs to yank on my tooth that way. yikes! :)
Hi there!!! Thanks for your comment on my blog! I am enjoying reading back this far into your blog! You live the life I dream of!!! Just wonderful! Your children are adorable! This post made me laugh so hard, and then when I read the comment by Bethrusso, which started with "Sweet mother of pearl"!!! I was howling. That picture is boardering on inhumane! Your husband must be half crazy to try something like that, although my daughter ripped her own loose tooth out with a paper towel when she was 6!!! Anyway...you have a great blog and it is a lot of fun to read! Gonna keep going!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family!
oooh! I am a firm believer in do-it-yourself, with or with out the proper tools, and I loathe going to the dentist, even though they all wear gloves I still see hairy hands four times the size of my mouth! But I also would not ask my brothers, or my sisters or anyone else for that matter to attempt to rip something out of my mouth without a passel of drugs, unavailable to the common man (or woman). Brave men indeed. Even braver to make a dentist appointment after all.
ReplyDeleteOuch! that was a painful one...
ReplyDeletethat is a good idea to go to a professional than home dentistry....
and the good thing is that the little girls enjoy.
Nice Blog!
Sounds painful indeed. I do hope it'll be fine soon. Me too have experienced that kind of tooth trouble.
ReplyDeleteAll the Best,
Helena
Lordy! What IS it with men and medicine? Um, y'know, they have Novacaine now, and fillings, and even earphone to play music so you don't hear the drill. He is cute, but - just like my own deaar husband - um, oh well, never mind!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the dentist would be a lot less painful!!!
