When Steven was just itty-bitty he invented a game that we still play, and is surprisingly fun and challenging.
He named it the Up and Down game.
He would stand at the top of our stairway and someone else would stand at the bottom, and we'd start pitching and catching. Every time the person at the bottom of the stairs catches the ball they get to move up one step and once they reach the top the game is over and they won. If they miss they have to go down to the bottom and start over.
Up and down, up and down we'd go. Getting to the top is surprisingly difficult especially if the person on top is trying to get the ball past you.
I can't begin to count how often we've played this game invented by a two almost three year old. It's still a favorite!
The simple joys are often the best. This is yet another example. I love your children's imaginations.

Simple joys are the best!
DeleteIt does actually sound fun. I'd fail miserably, since I can't catch balls to save my life, and don't throw much better either (our dogs will agree with that). But it still sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteWe used one of those bigger air filled balls. Makes it a little easier to catch than tennis ball sized ones.
DeleteYeah, that would make it easier to catch. Maybe even I'd stand a chance at catching one of those kinds of balls. ;)
DeleteSounds like fun. The simple ones generally do bring the most joy. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt is surprisingly fun. Our entire family enjoys it a lot.
DeleteI'm going to pass this along to our granddaughter to play with her little ones. They are going stir-crazy from the quarantine.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great game to get rid of some excess energy when you're cooped up inside. Hope they enjoy it as much as we do.
DeleteWe use one of those air filled balls that you often find at grocery stores and Walmart etc during the spring and summer months. Like these. Balls
What fun . . . Nice to read something light in this time of so much turmoil.
