Every day is a gift and I have been reminded once again just how precious that is. It's so easy to take things for granted when everything is going well and every one is healthy. For others every new day is welcomed as a small victory in a fight against the dreaded disease; cancer.

I have several friends who are in that battle. For one things are looking hopeful but, for another young woman married to my classmate things don't look so cheerful since Ruth is battling breast cancer and at the same time she is expecting a baby for later this summer and doctors aren't wanting to do anything until after the baby gets here.

I'm sure I can't quite fathom everything they are going through right now. I can how ever ask for all of you who are willing to help us pray for strength and healing for her.

  2. Prayers for your friend who has breast cancer and expecting. I knew a lady I worked with years ago who wanted a baby so bad. She had cancer in the reproductive area, I can't remember now if she got pregnant before or after finding out about the cancer as it was 35-40 years or so ago. Doctor did not want her to wait...they wanted to do a radical hysterectomy right away. But she waited, had a beautiful baby boy, went from deliver to OR. She is still with us today. Prayers your friend has her baby and recovers from her breast cancer.

  4. I will be praying for Ruth's health and piece of mind, for her husband and their precious baby. I will especially pray for God's grace and mercy and that he will direct their path.

  6. Prayed for Ruth and her family -- and wanted to pass along the story of my sweet Ohio sister-in-law who found out she had Hodgkin's when she found out she was pregnant with her third child, only son in 1968. She was told an abortion was necessary to save her life, but she chose life for both of them. Last year she celebrated his birthday. She told me she felt like Hezekiah, only she got more than 40 years, not just fifteen. May Ruth have even more!

  13. There is starting to be use of the diabetes drug, Metformin in cancer cases, since sometimes it seems to slow the progress of the cancer and help prevent metastisis. From the quick research I just did, it doesn't seem to cause problems in pregnant women. Perhaps your friend could talk to her MD about beginning a low dose of it?

She is in my prayers as well.
