The following two pictures taken several years ago of my small vegetable garden are what I consider to be a garden.
The following picture is my "garden" this year. It's still waiting to have the grass removed after years of neglect and then it needs some better soil as well. It does not at all resemble anything I want to call my garden but if I can successfully raise at least a few tomatoes in it this summer I won't complain.
Those are nice garden pictures, the top two. As far as the bottom one goes, well... At least you have a garden area:) You're way ahead of me, I just hope to coax a few peppers off my 3 potted pepper plants O.o
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. We've had to do that very same thing where we're living now. Baby steps. This year tomatoes. Next year, you'll be able to add something else. That's what we've had to do. It gets done slower than what you want it to, but sometimes that's just the way it goes. Good luck with whatever you decide to plant!
ReplyDeleteThe top garden is gorgeous, my garden is about gone, and only tomatoes left, so waiting on them, have fun with your new garden, it is time comsuming and fun too, hugs
ReplyDeleteYour pics are gorgeous. I too love a nice big garden, and know the work it involves. I'm afraid my next one will be along the edges of part of the house, and trying some in semi shaded areas out of necessity, but whatever it takes, it's worth a try. The satisfaction of watching it grow is worth a lot too!
ReplyDeleteI love to read your blog!!
I'm thinkin' you're going to get a bit more than a few tomatoes... I'm also thinkin' your idea of a small garden is different than my idea of a small garden!
ReplyDeleteYour past garden was just beautiful. May I ask what you planted?
ReplyDeleteWOW! I certainly will NOT share pictures of my past garden! And, we've not gotten around to putting one in this year...not even potted plants. So...:-( No fresh herbs or vegs. this year.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hot now, they'd be boiled on the vine!
now thats just the size my hubby would like however we live in a small farn cottage which used to be for the farmhand we have rebuilt it but our veg garden is half the size of your old garden there are just the two of us so it's fine now.
ReplyDeleteNekisha, I only showed two pictures of my small garden. In these two pictures there is one row each of: Tomatoes, cabbage, okra, lima beans, a variety of hot peppers, green peppers, red beets, peanuts, and popcorn. And five rows of string beans.
ReplyDeleteI had also planted lots of sweet corn, watermelon, cantelope, several kinds of cucumbers, onions, garlic, regular and snow peas, several kinds of potatoes, vine peaches, butternut squash, pumpkins, carrots, salsify, sunflowers, more tomatoes, and green beans, and then several rows of flowers just for fun.
It was a busy summer filled with a lot of canning and freezing but so rewarding!
How beautiful!! I am excited maybe I can leave a message once again. Seems like the blog.com has been down and not identifying me!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'll admit I'm impressed by them both. Let's just say I don't have any teeny bit of green in my thumb. :) Thankfully our neighbors share their tomatoes off the vine, which my son loves to pick! :)
ReplyDeleteGirl,that is not a garden it's a farm ! Very impressive indeed.
ReplyDeleteI'm playing catch up! I've been so busy the last few weeks. Love the garden pics ...even the "grass garden" :-) Mine should be planted this AM while it is still cool .. but I'll need to get off the computer!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll have it looking like a garden again just as soon as you can!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing all that you planted! It sounds lovely and busy. I am sure your family really appreciated all your hard work preserving once winter set it!
ReplyDeleteLove your garden featured in the first two photos. the bed of grass in the last one looks a little overwhelming. Good Luck!
