Changes

Life is all about changes. And right now we are once again going through some pretty big ones. I find them both exciting and scary. I don't particularly welcome changes, I'm more of homebody type of person who likes to have a comfortable little routine. I like to have my house a relaxing haven from the rest of the world.

This does not represent a change that I enjoy. I don't enjoy moving, the packing process is wearisome and the unpacking part isn't much better. There are always a few "helpful" people who want to help pack until they discover empty canning jars aren't all that entertaining and really don't provide a lot of juicy fodder for conversations later on.

My husband is a logger but plans to quit when we move. This is something I'm very glad to change. I don't spend a lot of time worrying but every once in a while something happens that reminds us of how very dangerous his job really is.

I hope you can all be patient with me as I try to find a few minutes here and there to blog a little bit, as you can imagine my time at the computer is more limited than it used to be.

  1. If I had to list 10 things I hate to do, packing/moving/unpacking would be number 1.
The last time I moved, I packed everthing in plastic bins, it made it much better for the things that had to be stored.
    Good luck!

  2. I hope your move goes well! My old living room looked like the first picture you posted about eight weeks ago. We are in our new house now and there are still many boxes to unpack. It's hard, but ultimately worth it.

  3. Over the last five years of my life, I’ve moved four times and as I share your feelings about change, have disliked every minutes of it. Since most of your life ends up packed away in boxes for months to come, the moving process is sort of like a game of memory as you guess which boxes contain what. :) I’ll be praying that the Lord will smooth out all the troubles and hassles that come along with moving for you!
    Blessings,

  5. Moving is a nIghtmare!
I do welcome the fact that it often makes me cull unwanted things but oh it is never fun and is backbreaking!

  6. Having lived in the same house for 29 years now, moving is only a faint memory. What I do know is we have accumulated way too much stuff over these years to even consider a move without getting rid of a lot.

Best of luck to you in your move and I'm glad your husband is moving on to a less dangerous job.

  8. I will pray that the Lord will give you a heart of contentment as you journey on in this season-of-life...that you will rest in His strength and peace! Prayerfully once you get moved and settled, you will look back and KNOW that it was worth every minute of the inconvenience!

    Blessings~

  9. Moving... not a fun time. But sometimes change is good. I am happy for you that your hubby will not be logging anymore. I lived in Ark for years and there were a lot of loggers, very dangerous profession. There is so much that can go wrong, and a lot of it can be fatal! Praying for you as you face this change in your life. Even tho I am missing your fun stories and recollections I understand. This too shall pass! Take care!
    until next time... nel

  10. I'm sure with you don't enjoy changes or moving. I pray all goes well and that you find peace in the change. I would say as much as I hate change all the changes my husband and I have done as far as moving goes has been great! I pray you find a home that brings you peace, love and joy and that your husband has job waiting for him that he will enjoy. Hugs to you!

  11. I sure do hope your move goes smoothly and that all is well as your husband moves into his new field of work. I have brothers who are loggers, too and it is a dangerous job, but something I think they could never walk away from, truthfully! It's in their blood, and I think they love being out in the woods more than they fear the danger.

I will be watching for your new posts in your new home!

  15. One good thing about moving is it sure helps to get rid of junk and lighten the load of material things we carry through life. It can be very stressful, though.

My husband does some logging on the side. I am thankful it is not his full time occupation. Like you said, it has its dangers.

  17. How far away from your present location are you moving? Is it to a new state?

I would love to move but really I don't see a reason so we'll just stay put for a while and maybe even forever!

  21. I know we'll be moving in the next couple of years (hopefully) and I always say I should start boxing up things downstairs, but then I don't. It's overwhelming on so many levels isn't it?? I'm excited for you though, and like others have said, it's just the next "chapter" for you. ;) We'll TRY and be patient here in blogland. ha ha
