A little while ago I was contacted by Lillian Stoltzfus. She had written a little children's book and wondered if I would consider reviewing it.
Lydia's bonnet arrived, and Buddy was excited about having a new book to read. He clambered onto my lap and we proceeded to read.
I was impressed at the large pictures on every page, depicting the scene we were reading.
The story of Lydia's bonnet was cute and provided a great launching point for a discussion with Buddy after we were finished reading.
I was impressed at the authenticity displayed throughout the book. The clothes, the girls' hair. and even the stance of the boy on the left of this photo is all very authentic to the Amish in Lancaster.
I decided to go ahead and start the year off by giving you a chance to win a copy of Lydia's Bonnet.
To enter all you have to do is leave a comment telling me your ...... ah let's see ....... how about since Lydia was feeling lazy and not wanting to help her mother with the dishes, why don't you go ahead and leave a comment telling me about your least favorite household chore.

Thanks for the chance to win! My least favorite household chore is vacuuming. I hate lugging my heavy vacuum up and down the stairs, and having to pull out all the attachments!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite household chore ....is doing dishes . I have often wished for disposable cookware.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny...for some reason I can't get started mopping. I will delay, delay, delay. Then, once I've started, I'm fine! I wonder what the big deal was :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your blog, thank you for this opportunity. Lancaster county is my favorite place to go.
Have shared on fb
ReplyDeleteIroning! Though once I start it's fine.
ReplyDeleteAll household chores are my least favorites. I'd rather sit down and read a good book! ;)
ReplyDeleteI dislike cleaning the tub and shower. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeletemy least favorite task is dusting - I have to be so careful of each item if I do a thorough dusting - it takes any fun out of the projext.

ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore is cleaning the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteShared on Facebook :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning! My least favorite chore growing up was the dreaded drying dishes. I SO disliked doing it! Mom would wash, I ALWAYS had to dry. Now, as an adult, my least favorite is mopping the kitchen floor.
ReplyDeleteI dislike standing on bits on the floor, so I really like to sweep the floor, but for some reason I just have a real problem picking up the dust pan and brush and putting the bits in the bin. So I end up with little piles of bits in every room until I realise how ridiculous it is and finish the job. Silly isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI dislike mopping floors.
ReplyDeleteBut what I really wanted to say is that I am a lot like Lydia in that I grew up in a family with four brothers and no sisters!
Alice
ReplyDeleteCleaning the bathroom I would say is one of the most disliked thing!I grew also up without sisters but with 6 brothers!

My least favorite chore, hands down, is actually putting up the clean and folded laundry.
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite chore? Cleaning the bathroom - my son offered one day because he was bored (really!) and now it's his chore and he's more than happy to do it! Whew!

Cleaning the bathroom
ReplyDeleteMy least favourite chore would be doing dshes, but even that is not so bad, especially when I think of all we're blessed with. Thanks for the chance to win this book!
ReplyDeleteMy least favourite chore is laundry. It never seems to end.

Vacuuming.
ReplyDeleteBathrooms...UGH! They are the ones which need the best attention.
ReplyDeleteShared on my blog and on facebook. Thank you for the chance to enter! Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore is a toss up between folding and putting away laundry or cleaning the bathtub/shower!

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! You're on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/peggypitcher
ReplyDeleteI hate all housework and I am lazy. I rather sit and read but the house has to get clean sometimes. I would say dusting is the worst because you have to move things, dust and replace things.

Vacuuming. Despite being uninclined to all housework, vacuuming is the worst.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore is folding/putting away clothes. I can clean them, hang them on the line (LOVE TO DO!) but then having to put them away is so hard :(
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! My "most" least favorite chore is cleaning the toilet! But, then I am VERY thankful that we live in this age and have an indoor toilet - can't imagine way back when, having to go outside when it is below freezing to do your duty!
ReplyDeleteWe just heard of some celebrity who has 16 bathrooms! - We wondered who they got to clean all of them! Always enjoy all of your posts. HUGS... and stitches
Nowadays I honestly don't have a least favorite chore, but when I was a kid HATED making the bed. My mum insisted we strip it down to the mattress, switch the sheets, top to bottom and end to end - every blessed day. And turn, flip, or spin the mattress every Saturday. I was astounded when I went away to school and discovered the rest of the world didn't live this way! Now, I just "zip it up", and call it made. That rumble you hear is my mother, spinning in her grave.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite chore is dusting
ReplyDeleteCleaning the bathroom, there's places I physically just can't reach well so it never gets as clean as I would like it to be.
ReplyDeleteMy least favortie chore is cleaning the bathroom. I don't clean it as often as I should since it's at the bottom of my chore list.
ReplyDeleteYet another vote for cleaning the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteCleaning the bathroom YUCK
ReplyDeleteNow if it were helping in the barn I would have to say scrubbing the milk pails
Cleaning bathrooms it looks like there are a lot of us that feel the same :)
