Sailor's Accomplishment
One of our all time favorite desserts is Hot Fudge Pudding Cake. As a child it used to be a weekly treat during the summer when ever there was fresh fruit available. Mashed strawberries, or peaches used to be perfect when spooned on top of this delightfully gooey chocolaty yumminess.
Today when I checked in at my friend Kathie's blog she had posted the recipe and I knew I had to make it for dinner tonight. As I was ready to start Sailor asked if he could make it by himself. I found the recipe for him, tied a cooking apron on him and surveyed my nice clean kitchen as I gave him the go ahead.
I worked on the rest of supper while he carefully followed the instructions. The kitchen showed signs of a beginning baker once he was done but it was oh so worth it. The dessert was every bit as good as it always is and my little man was as pleased as could be with his accomplishment.
Be sure to check Kathie's blog to get the recipe.

ReplyDeleteLooks very tasty! Love the smile on Sailor's face! HE's a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good. Your son did a great job! Wish I could reach through my computer screen with a fork! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Sailor got to make this yummy dessert. He sure looks happy! I was thinking you should've taken a picture of your kitchen...but then, I thought of what my kitchen looked like this afternoon after my daughter made a three layer birthday cake with a special raspberry filling between the layers. But it was worth it!
ReplyDeleteAre you seeing any signs of spring? Today I saw the fields being tilled but all the amish greenhouses had the woodstoves going full steam. Still having cold evenings.
Thank you for a nice post...as usual.
Way to go, Sailor!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm going to check out that recipe. Looks delish!
Your son looks so happy and proud! That's wonderful that you worked alongside him...skipping on over to Kathie's blog to check it out!

ReplyDeleteGreat job, young man! My 3 year old can make his own peanut butter sandwiches and I've taught him how to use a knife (a butter knife).
ReplyDeleteLove the look of accomplishment on Sailor's face...no earthly possession could replace the sense of worth he felt in his heart when his momma didn't deny him the privilege of being productive and creative...and what a great feeling that is for you knowing you looked past your spotless kitchen in order to fulfill a heart of one you love so much! I exhort you for looking beyond yourself and not missing such a valuable opportunity to esteem your son! :o) A great reminder for me this new day...
